Well you are going against that rule, by buying a ring (that you believe resembles love, but i believe that your woman or man NEXT to you is all the love you need, you don't NEED a ring to 'resemble' it, you have pictures of you two together, memories of the first trip, first date) and then paying for the wedding. Point is, you don't know where you will end up in 10, 20, 50 years from now (did you know at 10 that you would be where you are at 25? no ofcourse not, no one knows) so why should you sign a paper that might ruin your entire life if you have a change of heart about who you love? You can live with your best friend, help them while they help you and grow together. No one will try to step in the way of you two if you really love each other.
