This is exactly why Consort Rong is my favorite character: she really knows how to talk down on the emperor that he can't even win against her.

I like Rong. She is not afraid to put the asshole emperor down a notch or two. When faced with somebody who is fearless and sincere he becomes powerless. This emperor appears as though he is clueless most of the time. That the palace continues to function is a marvel

Hailan will always be my best girl, but Xiangjian is definitely in my top 3 characters now. Ever since Day 1 in the palace, she refused to put up with Qianlong's shit. Even now, when he's all, "Can't you act more like a concubine? I love you and all but that doesn't mean you can do and say whatever you want in front of me" she's like "bitch I never wanted to be yours in the first place, idgaf about you." And I love how insightful she is into Ruyi's heartache - Ruyi never said it in so many words, but Xiangjian eventually figured out that Qianlong was Ruyi's love interest in youth, and that he was no longer the man she loved back then. During Ruyi's funeral, she even says, "we shouldn't be sad. The Empress can now meet the man she loved in her youth," acknowledging that the Hongli Ruyi loved is long dead.

Its funny he never thinks about how ruyi feels when he keeps falling for women. But how he doesnt like her possibly falling for anyone. Smh pathetic

If the Empress, who was his cherished lover, being treated like this after a long time, than what makes he think that it wont be the same with Xiangjian. He said he love her but he probably will treated her like how she treated the empress now, with cold shoulder.

No kidding Xiangjian aka concubine rong, is indeed very beautiful ❤️ and quite apt for this character 😍😍 I mean everyone in this drama is beautiful but she is exceptional charming.
