Tamu, their drummer, was in a jazz band prior to being recruited into Nemophila, and I've seen her play incredibly complex stuff. They do lots of covers: Iron Maiden, Kiss, etc. They do a cover of 'Detroit, Rock City' with all of them in Kiss make up: fun to watch, Tamu has a huge smile and looks so cute with the cat whisker make-up, and of course they sing out: "Detloit! Lock City!"

Not only talented, but versatile. For more Heavy Metal, try Raitei, Revive, Sieze the Fate, Rise. For ballads, Now I Here or Life. For something completely diferent, Hypnosis or Style. They also have a bunch of covers, including DRC in full Kiss makeup. They are fun.

In the 20th century (70's, 80's, 90's), nearly every Metal and Rock band I saw live were often great musicians and performers and were almost inevitably male. And mostly angry. They also all had to grimace a lot when playing hard guitar solos, presumably so we'd know it was difficult. Then came the 21st century and, since about 2015, all the greatest Rock and Metal bands (Nemophila, Band-Maid, Lovebites, Babymetal, Asterism, etc, etc) are either all-female or female-led master (mistress?) musicians who smile and laugh while they play, no matter the difficulty. I haven't looked West for 8 years!

Thanks for reacting to my favourite band. I'm happy you liked the song. Mayu can scream, growl, rap or whatever. Although Nemophila is primarily a metal band they do way more than just metal. When you said "I wasn't expecting that", you said what most reactors say the first time. Even the fans are often surprised by the unexpected swerves in style and genre. SAKI and Hauki are both amazing guitarists. Hazuki's style is a little more modern while SAKI's is a mixture of old school and newer. She's a tremolo-picking monster and I totally covet her signature Killer Fascinator Empress guitar. With Tamu and Hara-chan in the rhythm section it really would be nearly impossible for them to do anything that wasn't amazingly good. Maybe look at their songs 'Adabana', 'Raitei' and 'Revive'?

HARAGUCHI-SAN and MAYU knew each other before, TAMU the drummer is married to the dude that has done all the music for the Silent Hill video games, and Hazuki was in DISQUALIA w/ NARUMI (another ex-DESTROSE member)

great reaction to this fantastic band. thank you. love the seven strings and the five string. thundergodess tamu on drums, saki and hazuki on guitars, haraguchi-san on bass and of course mayu on vocals ( although I like her clean voice better) they all are masters. but wait ´ til you hear hanabies "we love sweets" or "tousou (runaway)" maybe the best all female japanese band at the moment.

MAYU can really *sing* well, too. In a variety of styles. Many female reactors have expressed excitement about the tinsel hair; no one male reactor has commented about the hair.

I just finished watching the BAND-MAID live stream and realised that you have already done NEMOPHILA. Keep going with both bands. NEMOPHILA are very normal and the drummer has 2 young children and the singer has one child where as BAND-MAID are all a little crazy but you will learn all about that as you go.

I would not call this a growl, rather a scream, as you say in the video. But yes, she has some skills in not clean singing. And clean singing also. BTW - this is maybe the only "negative" songs they have. For some reasons she is hating something and the chanting girls are quite mean. So, it happens that reactors that hear this song first is a bit thrown back by it. Some day I have to find out what this hate is about. If it is for real or only a cool song text.

Way too many "effects" on that microphone for my taste. She is no Tatiana. Also the band is kinda vanilla for metal. It sounded good, in a pedestrian way, but there was nothing special about it. straight 4:4 timing the entire time, very few if any complex syncopations. This is rock radio metal. It almost seems like what you would get is AI generated a female fronted metal band. This makes me really appreciate Jinjer so much more for the complexity in their song structure. Not to be a Debbie downer. Still a great reaction, just not my favorite song.
