Exactly. Because Zhen Huan tried the same thing that Yanwan did. But she knew that she wasn't her mother. A real mother would have listened to the child.

Consort Ling blabbing how the foster mother cannot really love the child was really two strikes right there. The Dowager herself was not only a foster mother to the Emperor, her own daughter was raised by another woman. I was surprised the Dowager didn't have her executed right then and there. She herself had went through what Ruyi went through as shown in Empresses In the Palace, you would think by now she could spot the trouble makers immediately and nip it in the bud.

I saw this drama first and had a hard time starting Yanxi because the roles are flipped. Yingluo isn't entirely innocent, but everything she does is justified. Plus she gets a happy ending, which is always nice. I love Ruyi, but she's too good for the Emperor. She's devoted to him, and he lets her get trampled because her family can't protect her. It's hard to watch her be so good in such a cutthroat place. Ling is right in her final confrontation with Qianlong when she says the only person in the harem who loves him is Ruyi, but he mistreats her.

Well ,ruyis royal love in the palace is more historical accurate than yanxi palace .but they are no person who life's today who have anything to do with this character ,that's why it's very hard to find out who is "good" and who is "evil" .but ruyi was indeed see as a good empress with personality

Yanxi Palace It is basically the same storyline just with a twist. I am sure you will love it. Once you're done watching that watch Princess Adventures it's a spin off from Yanxi Palace,it's on Netflix

You should watch Legend of Zhen Huan / Empresses in the Palace. It's sort of the prequel to Ruyi's with the titular Zhen Huan being the Empress Dowager of this series.

My " historical" cdrama recommendations: 1) expresses in the palace is the story of the empress dowager here 2) legend of ming lan is a story about the noble class , not the harem 3) nothing gold can stay is a story of the middle class , not noble but rich. So we'll written and acted that watched it in 1 sitting

The Rise of the Phoenixes was also one of my favorites.

Empresses in the Palace is a ringer. The Legend of Hao Lan is good as is The Story of Yanxi Palace.

Consort Yu obtained her title Yu Huang Guifei only before or after she died. She stayed at the same rank for decades based on history record.

Yu was a noble consort until she died, she had the emperors favorite son but wasn’t favored after that so her position fell when yongqi died

But I read somewhere that Noble Consort Qing was the one who helped raising Yongyan,Jiaqing Emperor. Thats why when he ascended the throne, he elevated her to Imperial Noble Consort posthumously. Consort Ying helped raising Yonglin aka the youngest prince as he only 9 years old when Imperial Noble Consort Ling died. Cmiiw

I haven't watched the whole series but can someone explain why are they not raised by mothers. Are they like randomly given to other women ?? why is it even a thing

@@electroandcake6658 At that time it was because of certain reasons tho, such as 1. When the birth mother’s rank was low so the children was raised by the consort who has higher rank 2. The birth mother’s background wasnt high enough so she might be considered wasnt ‘qualified’ to raise the child (especially a prince) 3. The consorts have many children so some of her children was given to the consort who childless 4. The birth mother’s of the prince or princess has died so they will be raised by other consorts But in the drama, the children were given to other consorts to be raised as some kind of ‘punishment’ for the birth mother Sorry for my bad english hehe

@@electroandcake6658 depends. In this case, Imperial Noble Consort killed 13th Prince and was deemed inappropriate for raising 7th princess. Other times, children are given away if, either their mothers die, or if their mothers are not from noble backgrounds ( maybe not literate).
