My ears perked up when I heard Joy's grandfather was named Jesse Storey. I had a great-granduncle named Jesse Story (no "e"). His family was from the Story Community which was located near Acworth, GA in Cobb County. This was mid to late 1800s. Had to wonder if they were somehow related.

Robert, no matter how much history you explore, there is just one more piece you have to find. I would have liked to hear more about the lore of the witch. I was a little off guard hearing Dan do the intro today and having a Story ancestor helps frame things up is a big plus. Joy's trek to locate her distant ancestors is something I can empathize with after finding my birth family four years ago.

Cool, I have Storeys in my ancestry from my mother's side. Starting with my 5th great grandmother Nancy Storey who married my 5th great grandfather William Christopher, her parents were my 6th great grandparents George Storey and Nancy Cantor. All were in South Carolina but some descendants went to Alabama and Georgia. A lot of those descendants omitted the e too. All proven through mine and my mother's Ancestry DNA tests. I haven't traced all the Storey/Story's that I have in our trees but most likely Jesse could be distantly related somehow.

Very neat history of this family. I'm so glad that Joy has found the burial place of her 4th great grandfather and his wife. I cant help but be curious about their daughter who is buried beside her parents. I wonder what caused her to possibly be thought of as a witch? Maybe she was just a little "different" and the townspeople blamed her for happenings that she had nothing to do with. This was a great video, Robert, Dan and Joy! ❤

I have always been interested in history and took a few too many classes in college that were not needed to graduate with my non-history degree. However once of this channel I've enjoyed watching the trek through the area and the history. In fact, I have traced generations of Patton's on my father's side across the east, south and southeast of the US and the rest of the USA. Including a Mathew Patton of Wilkes, Georgia. While another Samuel Patton of Oglethorpe, Georgia is buried. I am sure there's a few more in the GA area, as there's others found in VA, AR, NC, KY as well.

I have been to Rome and studied at Oxford for a quarter during college. To live and work in those ancient buildings was magical. It's harder to get folks here not to want to raze everything and start over. I wish we protected more of our history than we often do. And the difference just between the East Coast (older) and West Coast (newer) is even more stark. It's interesting the differences in what cultures value.
