Suggestion: Make the repairs on the tent and then donate the tent to the Homeless group. More than likely they will not know how to make the repairs and also not be financially able to purchase the supplies. Cannot wait to see the total up crawdad you and Hope capture. Back in the mid-70s when I was a boy scout, we took great care in our tents. Made sure they were completely dried out before we rolled them up and stowed them. If we couldn't do it at the campsite. Jamboree, we did it later when we got back to town. They lasted as long as I was in the scouts and probably way before I was a scout

Hope great job on your catch. As a kid we would go walking along the shore at night with lanterns and 5 gallon buckets. We would fill up our bucket and have a midnight feast. Just pick them up, put them in the bucket. Those were the best days 😋😊.

One problem with the old tent is because it was folded wet, the stitching will rot quickly. That's from personal experience.

WOW! Mudbugs galore! My kids tied a piece of bacon on a string and would wait until one grabbed it, then put them in a bucket of water. They got 5 cents apiece at the bait shop. Many times they would earn 4 to 5 dollars! Great Crawdad harvest, Hope!

Hey Dutch, I think it may be Bluetti tht has AC tht u can use in a tent 👍🏻😁 Tht would be awesome to have some cool air especially at night when ur trying to sleep. And u guys already have plenty of the battery banks to plug it into. Thts what I’d do if I was to ever sleep in a tent again, LoL. I haven’t camped in a tent for a few yrs now, I just don’t enjoy the setting it up and taking it down. And if it rains, no thanks, LOL But I know the kids enjoy it, at least my lil guy does. U guys have an awesome spot to camp and have all the friends/family over 👍🏻 Any child would love to be able to get together with all the other kids , they just have so many things they can do. put a tarp under the tent---it will help keep the bottom from getting wet----also you can use a tarp as a tent fly on the top

Awesome HOPE! Can't wait to see what you catch over the summer. I am currently in Kenya, but originally came from SE Missouri, so right next door. :) We did a lot of camping with my children when they were younger as well. Our nylon dome tent from Sears lasted us like 20 years, in fact, I think my daughter still have is at 40 years old. It was our first tent that we camped every single weekend when she was 6 weeks old in Michigan. Then we moved to Indiana and camped with 3 kids. Eventually my 8 yr old son took over that tent in the back yard and made a cool little room for him and his friends to drag the old tv, and Xbox out to the back yard and have overnight sleepovers. We then bought a 3 room canvas tent which I loved loved loved because it had a small screened it area by the door where we could put shoes etc. and then divide off (zipper enclosures) the rest of the tent in to 3 sections for private sleeping. It may have been like a 12x20 or bigger tent. I little more cumbersome to put up, but still only took us 10-15 minutes. Those elastic string pole dome tents are the best! and you can buy replacement bamboo and string pieces in the camping section at Walmart, which we did often. Have a blast this summer!

Hope has never changed she is always interested in doing things with Dad and Mum all the girls have great personalities and different interest can’t believe Hayden is learning to drive and Hadlee the bike demon they are certainly enjoying the new homestead and creek life. That many crawdads is a pot of gumbo. The homeless camp is a great idea. If the homeless camp has smaller tents they could set a couple of the smaller ones up inside the bigger one. Dutch yes people love primitive camping. That's basically off grid camping. Great job on your crawdad catch Hope.

Dutch, I would do exactly the same thing with the tent. Not long ago (while it was still winter) I met a man at Walmart…long story short, I found out he was homeless and living in a tent not far away. It was a summer tent but the temps were still in the 30’s at night. The next day I went and bought him a large heavy duty tarp, and some ceramic pots with bases and canned heat so he could stay warm in his tent. He did so well with them, he said it was the first time he was able to sleep without his coat and shoes on. We stayed in touch so I could bring him anything he might need (he assured me he had an EBT card and that it wasn’t necessary to bring him food)….but after a couple of weeks we lost touch…I pray that someone came to rescue him from his situation, but I believe that Jesus did because he had fallen on the railroad tracks a couple of days before I saw him last…. I believe God saved him…

Dutch you have a good heart for wanting to give that other tent to the homeless people but if you're gonna do something like that go ahead and spend the couple dollars and patch it up they probably don't even have the money to do that. God bless you and he will give it back to you tenfold peace

Hey we always have a 2nd hole to release the small ones in to grow, so we don't keep re-catching the same ones. Hey you should see the vids on how our American Crayfish are ultra-thriving in the UK. They considered them an invasive pest at first, but many Brits are loving them now because of how huge they get in that cooler climate. God Bless and Cheers from North Carolina!!

Dutch, it's always good to watch you and your helper Hope. Many campgrounds I've camped out at have a low deck to put the tent on to keep it dry and off of the ground. It will also keep the snakes from going under the tent..

Dutch get yourself some bounce dryer sheets and put some in the tent and by the door of the tent. Mice, rats etc.. cannot stand the smell of them and will stay away. Replace them when the smell dies down. You can hang a couple of them trees in there or around the bottom of the tent outside. the really stinky scent ones not the sweet-smelling ones. Rodents hate strong smells. You can plant some peppermint in pots or in the ground around the tent and let them grow. Rodents hate the smell of peppermint. citronella candles repel them

Way to go, Hope! I remember catching crawdads about the same age as Hope, at a creek around 110 miles from home. We used to camp there a lot and besides crawdads, we would catch frogs, toads, and trout. Dad always fly-fished and we ate a lot of trout.
