Yes they do get close and sometimes it’s to much , but who is she to stop people stroking the horse ?!!! If that was the case the sign would say do not touch the horses !!! I it would be very hard as a horse lover and have my own not to touch them some people just stroke and leave I’m just miffed at that women to be honest.. the guard will say when it’s enough the horse are there for one hour not like there standing there putting up with it all day .. and before anyone jumps to say it’s abuse horse like being touched stroked ect they like human contact Like I said if the guards are fed up they say so !!! And trust me they act on it That women is in no way right !!! busybody

@@Summerrain133Well as a horse lover you would know that horses hate getting their muzzles and heads poked at. I think these ladies were only saying what the vast majority of us say to our screens. Kudos to them

My sister was head groom at a hunting stables. When I was about 4. She sat me on a horse just like that. Beautiful. But as I was little. Frightened me to death xxxxxx

After watching several clips of the hoese and riders of the Kings guard, I have noticed several things. They seem to like long hair, they are tolerant of pre teens, love babies , and definately have their own methods of showing displeasure and intolerance. Well done all of you!!

When are the authorities going to get a notice put up telling the public to not touch the horses? Most people seem to think they can continue to annoy the horses by touching them. It is not a circus. These soldiers are trying to do their job. PLEASE somebody do something about letting them do it before their is an accident.

Social mores and expectations have changed. Some of the visitors, especially the women, dress like a day at the beach. I'm sure some don't realise or care how bad they look.

The hogged mane is really more for tradition now but in times of warfare when these horses were in the battlefield towing the gun carriages, the postilion riders were constantly vaulting on and off the horses and it made sense to "hog" the horse's manes so they didn't get tangled with the rider or their tack. The commanding officer generally rode a horse with a mane to show his status within the troop.

@@fusspot57 Sorry, but that's nonsense. The hogged mane simply indicated which horses had been fully trained to work in a gun team and tow a gun carriage and which horses hadn't, and that's exactly what it still means - they're only hogged once fully trained.

There is a sign on the wall tells me everything I need to know and she was surprise that an animal acted just like an animal if only she was told don't put your arm near the mouth of an animal that can weight in at over 1000lbs, and will have big teeth! If only she was told!

Most are Cleveland Bay or have a lot of Cleveland Bay in them

@@John-G No, the household cavalry have Irish Draught and ID crossed. The troop have Cleveland bay and CB crossed bought as 3 and 4 yo from Ireland. Google it, it's everywhere but my knowledge comes from being one of the veterinary surgeons to the Royal Horses. Any complaints take it up with my boss HRH King Charles. Another expert 🤦🏼‍♀️

It tells you plainly they can kick or bite. If they don’t speak English it’s too bad. I rode horses 40 years ago even when you’re cleaning their frogs of the feet they can bite you when you turn your back on them. One of them bit me right in the back it kind of hurts.
