Thank you Hair Buddah, for saying that about Sally employees. I use to work there, and we are actually fairly well trained. However, if you don't tell us the truth, then we can't help you. And NOBODY told the truth lol.

I've never been to a Sally shop but I'm thinking that people who go there may not know what they're doing....and when they ruin their hair, they say 'oh those people at Sally's don't know anything!'😢

Then when mastered we had open salons, practicing on real client's. Proud of you for having the confidence in yourself to not only learn but put it into practice. And I'm even more proud of you for executing the cut 😊 even some so called professionals can't do that 💖 Maybe you've found your calling you didn't know you had 😂

I'm loving your videos HB! They are entertaining, instructive, and funny. My ex was a hairstylist for many years. During our time together, I saw first-hand what home bleaching, coloring, perming and facial peels can do if not done correctly. If I had to choose the worst of the worst, it would be the woman who did her own home facial peel. OMG! She was the front desk person in the salon. She greeted clients and walk-ins as they came in. She looked like she had been in a fire! Her facial skin was horribly blistered, bleeding and peeling off in bits and pieces! If I were the salon manager, I would have sent her home until she was well (because she looked SICK!!).

One of them charged me 500$ , my hair was a pixie cut, and fried my hair. All of them had high rates and damaged my hair.

What ever happened to beauty schools? I actually know of two in my town and one in a nearby town. Used to be you could walk into one and ask for some advice or even a beauty shop for some tips. It's been years since I've been to a beauty school, but back in the day, I'd get my "frosting" or permanents there (anybody here remember when some of us did both? Ugh, lol). Much less expensive and at least in those places, you have several instructors supervising. Or with these college girls, seems so flaky to totally not know what you're doing or what products will actually do - why not put a note on a bulletin board somewhere and get together with another bleached blonde or two and do each other's hair? Or even ask somebody at Sally's if they know of anyone interested in doing hair?

She said she got her hair done at a salon and it grows fast. She also said her hair is more brunette, red, blonde, which is darker than the color on her head. I have a similar hair color to her roots. She wouldn't be doing her roots if her hair was naturally pale yellow with some white in it.
@jennys.214
@jennys.214 Жыл бұрын
@@montialarson I think you misread my comment. There are different shades of blond and I know her lengths were lighter and brighter due to a salon. Her natural color is not brown or red in the least. Her roots are a light to medium ash blond, kind of grayish almost b/c they’re so ashy, but most definitely blond. My natural hair is that color too, but not as light as hers. It blends well with lightened hair.
@steviemichelle7271
@steviemichelle7271 Жыл бұрын
@@montialarsonI think Jenny’s comment was more referring to body dysmorphia. But also, her regrowth doesn’t seem to have the slightest hint of red in it (which goes back to perceiving “flaws” on one’s own body that aren’t there)

If her natural colour was darker this would have looked so much worse. The 6% breaking her natural level 8 base just reduced the contrast with the level 9 highlights so it’s just blended it all in. If she was a level 5 or 6 this would’ve looked shocking and the toner would’ve made it worse.

I’ve always thought the same here in the UK we can’t just walk in and say can I have a bottle of 20 vol please and a tube of red hair 🧑‍🦰 colour. Answer “No you can’t, you need a hair dresser licence 🪪 “ . America or Canada “ can I have a bottle of 40 vol and a tube of Quick Blue “ “ Course you can , anything else? “ . Just seems crazy too me . 😊😊

Oh I can bleach my hair no problem. I used to be hot pink all over and did it myself for years. But to be a nice blonde…I’ll spend as much time in the hair salon as I need to. 😂

I’d rather save up and get things professionally done. However, I will never be on Hair Buddha’s video. 🤣🤣

A lot of hairdressers actually make this mistake they use 20 volume to tone someone's hair, then the person is now into a solid color situation having to get the regrowth done more often. When you're using permanent color to tone and 20 volume, you basically lose all of the dimension of your natural hair against the hilites.

Internet full tutorials of haircut and color techniques, but for some reason people who do their own hair continue to: Not section, apply bleach using whatever kitchen tool next to them, cut hair with kitchen scissor, no backcomb, using a toner for lvl 10 hair on lvl 6 thinking it will turn platinum... People are so creative nowadays.

The first time I went ginger I used a cream bleach. It was the only thing I could use as my hair hated all kinds of powder breach. I did color transition and now I am back to ginger using the highlift hair dyes.

Her hair was so pretty before.... I can sympathize because my hair is still in recovery from over bleaching last year. It's horrible.

And just one more thing to mention, I really wish these people got someone else to help them reach the parts they can see very well. It probably would be quicker and so much easier.

She had gorgeous hair at the beginning, but it's FINE hair. If you have fine hair IN MY EXPERIENCE the less you treat it, the better. And you have to use low volumes, and add water/conditioner to every mix. And ALWAYS TEST on a single strand, taking note of how many minutes you let the product on. You'd better be very fast, otherwise one part of your hair will have the product on for a longer time than the other. As an alternative, do every section separately: apply and wash before proceeding. With fine hair, you cannot do any dramatic change: in the long run you'll have to chop it. Change gradually. Even the best salon can ruin your hair, that's a fact: they want to save time. So learn how to do it, or find a very expensive salon where they listen to your instructions (

Beauty School salons. If you cant afford to go to a salon, contact a beauty school. You pay very little and the person whos working on your hair is a student under supervision from a licensed cosmetologist. BTW Thankyou Hair Buddha for explaining why we should use 10v with toner. I always wondered why the salons did that because "semi permanent" for me washes out in less than a week. So I would have to tone my own hair at home every single week right?

I wish that was a good thing to do. One of my co-workers was going to transition to doing hair and asked me to come in and help them practice color. I am a level 5/6 and wanted a dark burgundy color over my natural. They did my roots first and used too high volume of bleach and I got hot hot roots. (I had only used colored mousse before that)I had to come back and have the instructor re-do my whole head at her salon. It looked great in the end but it was a long time growing that band out. I don't trust schools for color. Cut and style sure but not color.

I highlight my own hair, then color it red on top. It takes me at least 6 hours (my hair goes to my butt). It is SO hard!! I have lots of hairdresser friends who have done my hair and I always ask them what they're doing and how/why. It turns out good because: I'm a natural redhead (but my hair is more brown since being pregnant) I don't need to tone since I am putting red on top My favorite hairdresser specialized in vivid colors and explained in depth how she would highlight and section. I have an art degree. Tldr: I do my own hair to save money and because I enjoy it (minus the arm pain). It Definitely doesn't save time though!!!

Hi Hair Buddha!! Would i be able to possibly discuss some European products with you?? I did a lot of Hair Rep for Australian Brands and have worked with many clients and introduced them to the curly girl method. I would absolutely love for a chance to learn from you about European alternatives to help me grow and exceed as a hairdresser, thank you for all your kindness and videos - much love to the Hair Buddha clan!! xD
