So, Kory, how many pilots in the family now? :) This must make you very proud. Your daughter appears to have learned a lot about flying from you. Now, as I said to Josh, we need to do something about that panel! Retrofit time! Oh yeah, and while you're at it, Laminar Flow Systems for aerodynamic cleanup on the wings, flap and gap seals, and PowerFlow Exhaust for the engine! Well, maybe you can't install the PowerFlow system, but the Laminar Flow stuff should get you more speed, better climb rate and better handling

"It's a dance--somebody's got to lead, it might as well be you." Josh, back in the 70's I was a Navy T-28 instructor. The T-28 was a big, intimidating airplane for a primary student. Lot's of power--a Wright 1425 hp radial engine, with lots of torque. You couldn't be shy with the rudder when flying the airplane. I used to tell my students--"fly the airplane, or it will take you for a ride." Stinson guy.

Dan, I have a safety question for you given you level of expertise. My old school CFI that did my primary training always insisted on "rounding off" my base to final turn. As I've gained many more hours and experience over the past 12 years flying all over the country, I appreciate that technique more and more. It is, by far, the safest way to make that turn in my view. Your thoughts?

for a skilled pilot a single turn from downwind to final isn’t bad. However, you have less time to get stabilized at the proper speed and altitude, additionally if you are at a non-towered airport with traffic it’s not the best idea either. For me, I love flying navy approaches coming in super tight with the smoke on rolling out right over the numbers. Had a few towers freak out about it though for obvious reasons. 😁 As long as you do your gumps and don’t stall spin your good to go and look like a badass.

Asks her about meeting her expectations... I'd be like, "well, we landed and we can use the airplane again, so we're good."

Oh my gosh! I love Malibu Flyer! We watched Katey solo, and then I lost track. So she passed and my goodness she is a natural. I'm so impressed that she did so well! You did an amazing job mentoring her through the tough spots! It's good to 444DT, I hope he post some new videos soon!

What a treat! Two of my favorite Tubers combine for a great story line and video. Katey...don't take this the wrong way but if I were 45 years younger and single I'd be very tempted to see if you'd like to be a flier/partner! What a quality young woman you are. And, Josh, got to love the phrase, "If you're going to dance you might as well lead!"...Perfect!

He’s educating her while she flies and listens. A pilot knows that it’s challenging to maintain focus so she needs to be a multi tasker. What would you expect?

@@CodeBlue_EMT-P I agree...the only one i was a little critical of was ...when he was talking about crab angle immediately after take off around 17:08; Another min before the commentary, just giving her a bit of time to just clean up the aircraft after take off... But Josh is a great Pilot and CFI...so i trust his judgement.
