This illusion is not without risks... I can see there's gashes on her elbow.

Her gash could be unrelated to her magician job. We just don't know.

That's the real secret of many tricks: the assistants have to nail their roles and performances, or else they get hurt and the trick fails. They are a LOT more than just pretty faces. The magician also has to hit his marks perfectly. These tricks may not be real magic-magic they are precise stunts that are still dangerous and difficult.

The saw could’ve not bean made of metal at all, it could be something else in case something goes wrong

The gashes as you stated, are clearly much older than her participation in this trick. They really have nothing to do with the illusion.

He left out the fact that the saw wasn't dangerous in any way. In reality it had no teeth. It really isn't that great of a trick.
