on one of the very first goons podcast dooo actually goes pretty in depth talking about music theory and how it allows him to do what he does. music theory is huge in basically going from just reading musical notes and just playing the notes almost like reading a book and more understanding how sounds flow together and if he can just pick up the pitch and key he can play a song just from hearing such a short snippet of it and of course over 15+ years of playing guitar as well and just having just pure musical talent he's amazing even the original music he wrote himself on spotify is just masterful stuff imo i got that on my playlist that i listen to every day

If you want a hint to how he learns songs so quickly, it all starts with the Circle of Fifths. Most basic songs use 3 chords; the one for the key it's in, and then the two on either side of it. If it's a bit more complex, then also use the chord for the related Major/minor key (with the same key signature), and maybe even the two chords on either side of that. That does most songs except jazz and classical. If you throw in some key changes, that even does a lot of classical. Jazz is beyond my knowledge level. HTH.

I have not seen Alaska yet in your videos. She was a sweet addition to this video. You both together was awesome! Super positive and fun! This Doo video had some great songs! Love your content! Edit: You have said it many times and I absolutely agree with you! Besides loving hearing songs played differently I like his take on the songs. He finds a way to make them even better than they already are!

to understand how he does the on the spot ones hink of music like a language and the doo can understand whut the music is saying(chords and notes) his relative pitch is off the charts so he hears this like hes listening to someone talk we hear noises(music) he knows what those noises are and how to replicate them

The Doo went to Berklee in Boston when I was bartending in a rock club close by. Every Monday we hosted Berklee night so the students can experience a real audience. He played there a few times, I know what he looks like, and his real name! I’ll never tell !

4:10 That song is Scream by Avenged sevenfold. The guitarist is Brian Haner, also known as Synyster Gates. He’s my favorite guitarist of all time. He’s an amazing guitarist that looks cool too. He’s played since he was 13 years old. He’s ranked as the 9th best metal guitarist of all time.

he actually has a backing track playing most of the time, he usually loops a 4/4 progression (he uses his foot to control the looper) and plays over it but he rarely shows him recording the backing track

funny thing is he could already be heavily famous and not by youtube standards i mean. since noone knows who he is he could easily be a random band member from bands like metallica, megadeth, korn, iron maiden ect and we may never even know since he never showed his face which could be another theory as to why he doesnt his face. another reason which is the real reason is he doesnt want anyone to know because he doesnt want people in his hometown or local areas to know hey thedooo live in my town. so with that being said thedooo could even be your neighbor and you would never know he lived next door since he doesnt want you to know. its mainly to protect his fame from those in his local area. but either way he could even be a famous band member. now this a theory so idk if itd be true but he could be buckethead as well as noone even knows who bucketheads identity is either

First he finds the Key of the song. So when he listens to a snippet of the song he finds the root note or key. Then it is either a major or relative minor both use all the same notes but the start note is different like C major and A minor are relative keys because they use the same notes of a scale. Then most songs follow a chord pattern So he knows if a song starts in F it will contain certain chords then there is a lead pattern it will follow based on all of the previous information. I'm not saying it's easy, but a person who knows all the previous information can if they are proficient could play a person's request. The Dooo is special because he can play well songs he doesn't know well. I am in no way diminishing The Dooo's abilities, I'm just saying it is not impossible, just very difficult. That coupled with his personality in doing his show makes him unique.

Thunderstruck is known as the taboo song to play on guitar, most guitarist learn that in the beginning and 90% of guitar stores have it banned in their stores, they will actually take the guitar from you as soon as you start playing.
