That's a good thing sounds like. My first taping job was on the Oregon coast back when you could only rent the tools from Ames. Just went crazy trying to use a bazooka on high ceilings off of scaffolding. No one can realize the effort that takes unless they've done it.

How Anyone can tape for 11years makes me wonder about people's sanity lol... I HATE taping, I would rather roof in the Saudi Arabian desert at 1pm in July with no water. (Give me framing, any day of the week)

Glad to see someone knows usg only recommends easy sand or durabond via waranty using fiber tape.no pre mix for fiber. Good job.

You should NEVER use mesh tape on full flats or butts. The joints will peak EVERY time. I've fixed hundreds of peaked and/or cracked joints that were finished with mesh tape. It's for patches, not for finishing.

gonna watch the video again later when i got more time. But good seeing the different ways of scooping up the mud. still like to see stuff on butt joints, the videos on youtube are so hard to see since the camera is too far away from the joint.

Hey man, love your videos. I have a question. I have a 10x12 shed. My rafters are 14 to 15 inches apart. Is it okay to run three sheets of 12 feet 1/2 inch Sheetrock perpendicular to the rafters? I'll have long seams, but the seams will be the sides of the Sheetrock that are tapered. In other words, there would be no staggering, but no head joints, or cuts butted end to end either. Thanks,

Paper tape with quick setting hot mud is not recommended. All Purpose premix is for paper, fiberglass tape is for hot mud.

does not meter what kind of tape to use..you always have to prefill joints..otherwise it gonna be cracks

I don't trust drywall nails at all. My house is now 20 years old and the nails are now popping out. They nailed the seams and screwed the interior of the drywall sheets. The screws are fine but the nails are popping, even where they're covered by tape.
@diyduke
@diyduke 2 жыл бұрын
That's a common problem especially when lumber goes through the seasonal process of drying shrinking absorbing moisture and expanding, screws are the best 👌

@@diyduke I prefill all my gaps with durabond. I also bedcoat my bead with it. I have ALOT of experience with setting type mud. I've done almost exclusively drywall for the past 17 years and would never recommend mesh on any joints. I only use mesh for patches or anywhere there is no worry of the wall moving. Without the paper, as the wall shrinks and expands through the seasons, the joint will crack. Thats my experience.
@diyduke
@diyduke 4 жыл бұрын
@@ModernGentleman okay, thanks for sharing and I see your angle. I've been doing drywall since 1979 when durabond 90 was the only hot mud there was and to speed it up we used plaster accelerator. Done a lot of jobs especially remodels with glass and hot mud, even ran 90 minute through my bazooka, running and gunning. But hey if you're not comfortable with it, that's your choice. Tape On 😀

Intresting names in building section in USA! You say knife, but in other countries its not a knife. And why you say dry wall, its gyps or plaster. I can understand this things.

Why add texture to a perfectly fine wall?nasty in my opinion. Makes the room seem smaller. Id rather see smooth with some imperfections here and there
