I Try an ECLIPSED VOW Only Challenge - Lethal Company Solo Run

I VOW to never do this run again... probably, lol.
I did this run because a good number of my challenge runs have ended on an eclipsed Vow simply from not knowing how to deal with the giants that spawn there. So I decided to dedicate an entire run to ONLY eclipsed Vow so I could learn from the experience, and I ended up learning quite a bit. I can go to Vow during my challenges with a newfound level of confidence now and I'm excited to see where that takes me.
After doing this, I think I'll do a challenge run on every moon just to get used to performing on them in the worst conditions. Really, this is long-term practice for future Hardcore Ironman and Hardcore Nuzlocke runs, which seem to be natural progessions for my channel.
So expect more of these eclipse only runs on each moon, and let me know if there are any moon-exclusive runs you want to see next!

Huh, I liked how you watched a tutorial while still recording. I like that raw, unedited, natural-paced style. Cuts are only when you are just walking and *nothing* is actually happening. This is the ideal trimming rate for live gameplay. And your comments don't let me get bored!

Felt appropriate to include it rather than just mention it! Super useful tech and Wurps showcased it better than I ever could (especially since I didn’t successfully do the tech once this run 😂). I’m glad you liked this though, because I plan on doing a few more in preparation for my next attempts at the hardcore ironman!

Ive always liked the idea of changing Giants to have their vision based on movement. Sorta a game of watching for where they're looking, playing red light green light, only moving when they arent looking directly at you. Would still be dangerous as they could still spot you before you do them sometimes and you might not have time to completely stealth them, but it'd give more of an option than "be lucky or have grenades"

Actually, the time it takes for giants to start pursuing you is based on if your moving, crouching, and your distance from the giant, so it kinda already is.

I think Offense is a little worse tbh because of the thumper spawn likelihood paired with how many two-handed items there are. Also lack of beehives sucks

I completely agree with this dude on all levels! Vow is definitely the worst moon in the game but is a lot of fun to watch and use as challenges. I swore man saw one item all throughout a moon when he checked both front door and fire exit, the red soda. The loot rooms he found also had nothing in them despite having to lockers! Lots of risk no reward!

Ik i might say march is the hardest Tons of loot but it can get eclipsed, stormy and flooded and foggy! The only manageable weather condition is flooded since the ship and entrence are pretty high up ergo it take a while to get completely flooded But other than the weather, there are tons of thumpers, brackens, snare fleas and a decent amount of coil heads with a low chance of 1% for nutcrackers. It’s also a gigantic map at a multiplier of 2.00 x And last but not least it has an insane 14 indoor monster power. That’s an extra 4 power compared to rend! To round it out, the loot isn’t anything insane, it’s not really worth going to over 220-Assurance. (Assurance has better quality items and is much easier to completely loot because of the size)

the thing March has over assurance is it’s beehive spawn rate, can get ~400-500 scrap value from just beehives sometimes. March having four entrances is pretty nice too because then you don’t usually have to commit to any single one of them and just grab whatever you find near the front I will say though that Assurance’s loot table has been insane for me lately so and I’m starting to understand why people like going there lol

Offense only would be really interesting considering that offense has the over 25% spawn for thumpers or spiders and a lot of two handed items that aren't worth a lot. Meaning you would have to buy shovels and run back and forth with two handed items while probably dodging dogs and of course earth leviathans.

I tend to avoid confrontation in my runs but I really should practice my combat since being able to kill things might be the difference between completing an ironman and not I already filmed another eclipse only map exclusive run so that one will go up first, but offense is my next priority after that

this only works in solo! coil heads can open unlocked doors in multiplayer. The multiplayer alternative is to trap them behind a power door using the terminal and coordinating with a terminal operator. can also trap other enemies like jesters, brackens and thumpers this way!

You should do an iron man run where the first time you enter the building you have to inverse teleport in. It can be annoying if your run dies early bc of inverse rng but otherwise it can be pretty fun and is interesting trying to find your way out each time.

Just so you know, there’s a way to climb the cement wall by the fire exit. If you jump into the corner of the outer support things, you can climb them.

I think a march only challenge that incorporates all the fire exits would be cool. Either you HAVE to visit every fire exit every time, or maybe you partner up with larry or someone else and you each go to two entrances, or maybe even a full squad that has a designated entrance for everyone.

that’s how I normally play march! as a solo I just take a peek into each entrance and take what I can, collecting beehives along the way. In a duo I usually take the back fire exits while my duo takes the front + main entrance. and in a full stack we all go to one entrance and then pair up later depending on the situation I’ll be doing a March only run soon enough though! it’s my favorite map and it’s also one of the most important ones in the ironman challenge so I gotta make sure I have my strategies on lock, especially when it’s eclipsed!

Imo rend is a good contender for the hardest moon. Unlike titan and dine, there's no entrance nearby which means you're exposed to outdoor creatures more often, and the indoor creature spawn rate is especially brutal with the high chance of bracken + coilhead combo. If you're looking for another gimmick to stick onto a solo run, try eclipsed rend only.

I’ll give it a go soon! I’m gonna need to be proficient at eclipsed versions of all the premium moons if I’m going to have any shot at completing the Hardcore Ironman Challenge so it’s in my best interest to get my reps in there I’ve heard from Larry that eclipsed Rend isn’t so bad if you just go to the fire exit, and the reason the high quota teams prefer Rend > Dine/Titan is because it doesn’t get turret spawns. But I also think those teams avoid eclipses too

Like you can only bring in metal plates or only bring in yield signs for a day, but the next day changes what item you can pick and you can’t redo items? Not sure if it would really work though tbh, but this idea has been floating around in my mind for a while! Maybe you can make it into something

To add on to this. There is a ton of different scrap items so what could happen is that a group of 4 could each have one item that differs from the other. So they have to work together to bring scrap back. And of course you can only pick up your item. No transporting it back to the entrance for the other guys.

The closest I’ve thought of is to do a metal scrap-only run in a stormy weather only run, but I like this because I can turn it into a group play thing that focuses on a type of team coordination that we don’t normally have to think about. So I’ll see if I can get a group together for that 🤔

I feel like my personal worst planets gotta be March just cause the huge lake in the middle requires players to flow towards the ship in a specific direction. Vow's nice for me just cause the open space allows for me to get places besides coming from the fire exit.

I hardly ever go to the main entrance on March since it’s so far away from the ship, and that’s asking to get eaten by giants if you take too long! I prefer going to the back two fire exits instead, and only go toward the main entrance at the very beginning to look for beehives

most of the time I’ll run ShipLoot for more accurate scans and when I play with friends I also usually have ShipLobby so people can come and go as they please and also MoreCompany since my friends like the hats! I don’t play with much else mod-wise nowadays unless I’m showcasing a specific mod, but they’re not usually QOL mods

Hey, can I ask why you put the bees in the front of the ship? Normally I and the people I play with put them further to the back of the side so that we can enter and leave the ship without them attacking.

Because it’s not possible to retrieve more than one beehive solo if I put them all the way in the back. Unless I use Wurp’s new method of collecting beehives on the roof, but that’s a bit risky with the jump I have to make to do it. Prior to update 49 you could collect up to four beehives solo with my placement, but I think the hive collection area has changed which is why you’re able to collect items on the roof now putting the bees on the side there is fine so long as you enter the ship from the other side. They won’t aggro if you don’t make line of sight with them so it’s pretty safe to place them there. I learned it from Psycho

will work on it! made brightness adjustments in the map showcase video I did today and I felt like it worked well, so I should be able to do that for future uploads too, especially for parts that are super dark

If I read correctly, sandworms have a random 'emergence' delay for how fast you have to react to the warning noises prior, roll low enough and it's possibly too late already, unless you started dropping and running backwards immediately. Depending on terrain and stamina usage you're often hosed. Supposedly they track to emerge slightly in-front of you as well for the wind-up, hence backwards. I think they are fair in group play because ship-ops can call them out, but make pretty BS solo-enders. 'SandWormNerf' mod is a thing, but not a true 'as-intended' challenge obviously. Stealth-running that destroys your stamina would be an interesting mechanic to deal with those eyeless dog/worm moments, bugged-crouch-running is a kinda silly work-around that's required tbh. Going faster than walking speed and making less alert noise.

yeah that is correct, was just unlucky with the timing on this one. The logs say to run backwards, but I’ve gotten eaten 100% of the time I go backwards and this was the first time I got eaten in a long while since I started running forward instead. These things used to be the bane of my existence so I took the time to learn them well, but there wasn’t much I could do in this instance other than not go back for more loot, or just have more stamina and immediately run upon hearing the growling. But even then I’m not sure I would have made it, it usually takes more time for the sand worm to even begin the “emerging” process which is why I didn’t immediately run

If you haven't already you could try rend only. Its totally not because I want to learn the map from someone else instead of learning on my own... also with bee hives I've found that 1 hive will be 136 and then another will be 135 sometimes so its mostly consistent but not 100%

What are Nighttime Spawn Deviation and the other deviations? It is the bonus points added to max power when a moon is eclipsed? That is the logical conclusion since on this weather, everything is harder. So in theory, vow can have 2 keepers but with eclipse, it can have 3 if all checks are keepers.

from my understanding, spawn deviation determines enemy spawn rates throughout the say. the higher the spawn deviation, the higher chances of spawning an enemy. So the longer the day goes on, the more likely it is for enemies to spawn This is capped by the max power level of each moon. Eclipsed moons tend to meet that max faster since the spawn rates are higher from the start of the run. Even while eclipsed though, Vow will still have a max power level of 6 and will only ever have a max of two giants at a time, it’s just that max might get met faster in an eclipse.

March and vow are fascinating planets, if you think indoors are too dangerous, you can instead look outside for bees. l actually like the bees more, they test your running skills. Best option is to put them in front of the ship(terminal side), if you drop them on the railing, they count. You will see the notification bottom right that is loaded in ship. Sadly though, if you're playing with randoms, most of the time, moons will be random, you won't get many chances on these forest maps. Giants are the worst here, l much prefer dogs

yeah I’ve collected scrap like that on accident before, I should just do that with hives instead of doing the more advanced Wurps jump. Thought about it just haven’t tested it. Hiverunning IS super chill though, I don’t mind doing it in group play because I can check if my friends are still alive when I’m done, and if they’re not the. I can just leave and save our run lol

@@sheffaustin Since Eclipsed make everything spawn faster, it is really punishing for non-easy maps But if it is a big map like march or titan, it might give you some time but even then, you depend where are the vents. Are you going to do Assurance too? Bee hives and somewhat easier time both outside and inside. Best beginner map along with Vow for loot. The only thing that can ruin this is a worm and dogs together, if it is just dogs(happened to me) it is just like any other stealth game

day 6 made me pretty angry that you didn't grab th e beehive (its fine) also, the worm is 0 problem with hives because hives are weightless and u can easily outrun the worm, i would also recommend going back for the next time because i have done eclipse donly vow and its totally fine if you do it right

yeah I got a lot more comfortable toward the end of the run, but that’s why I did this run in the first place! can’t be playing like that in the ironman challenge where it counts

@@sheffaustin i'd have to upload the clip but at one point i left my buddy's side (just playing with us two) for like 15 seconds and went upstairs to check a storage room, hear him go "i found the apparatus room!" not that far away, come back down and all i find is a blood trail and a pile of items in front of the door long story short i got the worst jumpsscare of my life from a steam pipe bursting as opposed to like the 5 other things that should've scared me

Why do people think Titan is harder than Rend or Dine? It may just be me, but Rend and Dine are waaay too tricky when outside. Titan is just get in, get out, easy peasy and my friends and i get 600-700 dollars per Titan run, while on Rend or Dine we all die.

I think Titan was the preference prior to the update that added turrets to the moon. Rend doesn’t get turrets which is why it’s the preferred map now, which is super good when you’re going for high quotas and basically need to full clear every map. I was a Titan enjoyer too until today’s upload where I had a Titan turret hell that felt like it was straight out of Brutal Company lol also the Rend exterior isn’t so bad as a team so long as you have someone at the ship, only an outdoor power level of 6 and a lot of room to work with. Can be rough on Titan if you get a giant up top or dogs on the stairs
