From many years of doing repair work on Navy ships anytime you use stainless fasteners use some lubricant with graphite in it. The Navy has basically outlawed black oxide fasteners as people were using them in the wrong areas/conditions (heavy heat and pressures) and they were breaking. CAD bolts on ships are used in areas of high heat and lower pressures. They are good for that but over time do corrode. Good video!

Use CRC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor or Cosmoline Military RP-342 and call it a day. Simple spray and done.

How would you protect rear axle tubes on a S197 Mustang?

Loctite makes it too, it's called "extend". We actually bought it and thinned it down and sprayed the entire tube chassis on a late model dirt track car and it worked great.

Looking forward to the chassis detailing video, the North East winters and road salt are murder on the undercarriage. I've tried Fluid Film and other stuff but none of it really worked well so far. I wish they made this RPM in a spray so the whole undercarriage could be protected without grueling labor.

yes the stuff works well but you gotta purge the moisture out first and apply it right

On that spindle hole I use anti seize on that coat it very well and plus u can spray undercoating from rustolium that this is very well and bolt for exhaust take off them and use lot of antisieze to them and put back toghter

I am going to remove the rust on the hub and front toe links once it warms up, il show a video when i do the chassis detailing. I will also coat the hub and toe link with POR15 so it will never look bad again, these parts are rusty off the assembly line unfortunately this is just how new cars are pumped out.

The coating is zinc flake we have adopted these at John Deere with 120-144 HR SS (salt spray)

THATS WHY MINE ...16 GT350 HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE OCT. TILL THE SNOW MELTS MAYBE NEXT MO. THE CITY + COUNTY SORAYS SALT-ICE MELTING CHEMICALS ON ALLLLL THE MAIN ROADS UP HERE IN CENTRAL OR. THEY DO IT ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

no it will not, you can even do hardware that is not mounted prior and then assemble this is what we do on classic cars during restoration assembly

Auto Fanatic all right and what do you recommend for around the rotors, sanding and what product to prevent? Also in the front, mine are like painted in cast aluminium from factory but they are starting to rust

Does this stuff have to be reapplied after a certain amount of time? Want to do the caliper pins and other hardware like you did. I’m guessing it isn’t permanent. Also Looking for something to do a 409 stainless exhaust. May not work though cause the exhaust gets hot and would probably liquify the product? Any suggestions for an exhaust that wouldn’t have to be reapplied every year. Going to do it before it’s even installed so it doesn’t get the chance to rust at all.

yeah if you apply this twice a year and suffer from bad winter it will work amazing, for an exhaust you can remove it and polish it up, 409 does not polish so great, if you get an aftermarket system from 304 it will never need to be treated.

I haven’t installed the 409 system yet so I wouldn’t have to remove it, But I was hoping to find something that I could treat it with before installing it and not have to worry about it rusting. Maybe just some high temp black paint would be my best option. I have a midnight edition Silverado so black exhaust would go with the scheme I guess. Thanks

Erik St George get it ceramic high temp coated some good powder coat shops offer this we get it done all the time for matte black tips and full systems on exotics.

what? pre-heat every single bolt and nut?? can't do that even though I love my GT I was expecting more practical method.... a little dissapointed. nice job though

you can use a can of cosmoline but that makes such a mess to use and you spray everything
