Connie Boswell or Connee Boswell had a health issue which put her in a wheel chair at a young age, which is why she was typically photographed in a seated position, but it never stopped her from singing. The Boswell Sisters were great, but I'm a fan of the girl groups or sister groups of the 30's, 40's, & 50's, anyway. The Four King Sisters, The Clark Sisters (aka The Sentimentalists), The Norton Sisters, ... The McGuire Sisters, The Fontane Sisters, etc. Good stuff. Great video. Keep 'em coming.

Did not know that about Connie Boswell. We have similar tastes in music. I too enjoy the girl group of the 30s and 40s. Boswell and Andrews Sisters in particular. Also some of the girl groups from the 20s - "That Girl" Quartet and The Brox Sisters, specifically. Thanks for watching and commenting! Skol, Jeff

Hey Jeff, this was fantastic!, listened in with my mum and she loved it too!.The Connie Boswell was lovely, really enjoyed the Cab Calloway and Les Paul tunes, fabulous stuff!..it took me back to when I was a kid and I used to listen to 78s on my grandmothers gramophone, she had Heartbrezk Hotel, the Ying tong Song and the one I loved was The Old Portuguese Washer Wonan by Joe "Fingers" Carr...if you have that one, would love to hear that at a future session.Nice one!!,thanks do much, all the very best.Rob.😉👍

My pleasure, Franciso! Thank YOU for watching and commenting. I'll see if I have a performance of "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon." Great song. May not have Goodman's recording, but I'm sure I have someone's recording of it. Skol! Jeff

That les Paul record sounded farmillier becouse bob wills had it out first around 1942. I think those vinyl 78 s were called vinyllite if I am not mistaken I love that connie boswell record sand in my shoes. she was confined to a wheelchair her whole life, and she did some nice stuff with bing crosby. I am enjoying this thanks so much

Hello Jeff, I am not trying to be ignorant, however, how does the needle on that record player last? I thought that only specific needles were used to play the 78's? Thank you, I enjoyed the music.

Hello, Jenn! Thanks for watching and commenting. The cartridge and stylus that I use is specifically designed for 78s. It's the Grado 78 cartridge/stylus. It's a 3 millimeter stylus so it fits in the groove like a glove. 78s are often worn or have more scratches and other damage than vinyl LPs, so I do replace the stylus more often. I shoot for once a year. Sometimes less or more often, depending on how much I've playing 78s. Hopefully that answers your question. Let me know if you'd like more info/details. Skol! Jeff

Enjoyed the Cab Galloway, but Jimmy Dorsey fantastic! Do you get any copyright problems with KZfaq? Just recently got an Andrew Sisters completely blocked... :(

Hi Jeff, I have brought my first 78 record which is Hank Williams - I'm satisfied with you last week. I have not yet played it as I don't have 78 stylus. What would you recommend for a 78 stylus under £100? I have an audio Technica lp120.

Hey, Nathan! Taking the plunge into 78s will be so much fun! I have the same AT turntable and use the Grado 78c cartridge & stylus. I highly recommend the Grado. It sounds fantastic! That cartridge & stylus runs $90 here in the US. I’d also recommend mounting it on its own headshell so you can quickly and easily swap headshell/cartridge if you move between playing 78s and playing vinyl. I use the entry level Ortofon headshell which is about $30. Don’t know how those numbers translate into Pounds. Hopefully within your budget. Let me know how it goes, and if you have more questions. Skol! Jeff

Recomendaría "The American Dance Band Discography 1917-1942". Skol! Jeff
