Winning the Cannes Best Actress Palm of Gold (for my friend Robert Altman's THREE WOMEN) was such an incredible honor! Such a strange and surreal moment! And the dinner at the Majestic that night was the most scrumptious meal I ever had!

Seeing Shelley Duvall get the credit she deserves fills me up, especially for THIS performance. I LOVE that white suit!!!!!!!! So cool! Three Women didn't get one Oscar nomination that year. Pfft. Diane Keaton won the Best Actress Oscar that year, which was also deserved, so this makes me so happy to think that two of my favorite performances from 1977 were celebrated. That does not happen very often! And Shelley was in "Annie Hall", which won "Best Picture" so....that's not a bad year! My question is how does "The Goodbye Girl" get nominated for Best Picture, and not "3 Women"....or "Close Encounters" for that matter! If I were able to re-nominate 1977 it would be Annie Hall, 3 Women, Sorcerer, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and Eraserhead! (Sorry, Star Wars!) :P

I saw "Star Wars" the day it opened. It wasn't THAT great. It was ok. It didn't blow me away like "Close Encounters" did a few months later, I'll tell you that much. Get some taste. You're a little boy. "Jedi Jones", what an embarrassment.
