I've read that our fur babies who've crossed over actually help us find their successors. Given the strange coincidences you mention & by my own experiences, I believe this must be true. Despite the apparent loss, the Love does indeed go on. What a wonderful gift! Good luck to you.

In 2018 my german shepherd passed away. I waited about 5 months before I looked into another one. Went to a shelter in the area and found a staffy mix. She instantly gave me a lick on the chin and sat in my lap. When I was in the process of adopting her the staff gave me the information on her. She was born the same day that my shepherd passed away. She does a few things that I had to train the shepherd to do, it came naturally for the new puppy. Pretty cool.

All of our dogs have been rescues from city shelters that were high kill shelters and I have never regretted any of them. We just lost our Schipperke that we rescued 15 years ago about 7 months ago and we have just now been taking about going to look for a new dog at the shelter to love. This time I think we will be looking at an older dog to give our heart to.

I love this story! Reminds me of ours! We lost our 14 yo black lab 7 yrs ago and she was my spirit animal as she was always with me. I told my husband that I didn't want another black lab as I felt I'd be disrespecting Harleys memory, but I'd be happy with a yellow lab. The very next day, he found an 8 week old yellow lab for sale! We RAN to get her. I'd gotten used to a senior dog so having an energetic baby was real different. Like you, I think Harley moved aside to rest in peace and make way for Beignet to come into our lives to be loved too. She is beautiful, and as a guy on his 5th rescue dog, I always believe that my previous dog sends me the dog that I need, and that the dog needs me, as heartbreaking as it is to lose them, they make for such a better life. Adopt don’t shop. ❤️
