That dog got so freaking lucky that he ended up with someone who cared enough to give him the time to just heal and adjust. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. There must have been days where they felt like nothing was helping or improving. But they stuck with it and gave him the love and time he needed.

This made me cry. I, too, had a dog I rescued who was terrified of everything. He needed a lot of work, and it paid off. Thank you to these two for devoting the time to bring that sweet boy out of his shell.

Mine is a rescue too, she was dumped. She was afraid of everything. Even if the oven turned she ran. Good by year one. It’s now year four. She sleeps with me. Yours has made remarkable progress. Ours would run away if loose. The house is surrounded with dog gates. I’m so happy to have her.

Bravo Fausto❤ and your very special People. Life is wonderful when you are loved. Anyone can raise a normal puppy and be blessed with an amazing companion. It's the abused, the damaged, the heartbroken, the ill Dogs who are without hope or trust having learned only to fear that hold my heart. When the fear fades into love and trust and joy - totally free and spirited - I feel as if I earned the air I breathe and the space I use and so the adventures begin. Dogs are my favorite people❤

It’s awful to lose a child, but then you found a furry one that needed you just as much. Thank you for rescuing Fausto and carrying on the message that buying isn’t better, it just leads to more pups ending up in shelters or euthanized. I wish you many, many years of love and laughter with your fur baby. He cannot replace what was lost, but he can be a channel for all the love you have to give.

You’ve done a *wonderful* job of acclimating Fausto to the greater world after his trauma of shelter life! Oddly enough, he bears some strong characteristics of a Carolina Dog (a land race or pariah dog of the SE US) in his chassis, head shape, face and tail as well as his coloring. Congratulations on this life changing experience for all of you!

We lost our granddaughter at full term. My daughter’s little Yorkie saved her life. Dogs really live in the present and teach us so many things. My heart goes out to you both. 3:04. He looks like a baby angel. I know of another dog like this, it took about a year total and all idiosyncrasies disappeared. He is a a baby doll. He loves you so much. Don't forget him when you do get a baby, it will happen. God bless.
