Leap frogging cars is a great idea and good tip on knowing what GAP means on the AT. As the season changes to fall the green tunnel transforms into a colorful oasis of beauty along the way. It worked out great leapfrogging cars. I can't do that all the time but when I can, it seems to work great. That is a funny term, right? Cuz slacking would imply not being outside at all and just staying home on the coach, right? It was raining for 2 days and super heavy thats why I didn't go out. I didn't catch that on camera. It was raining so hard everyone on Skyline Dr had their flashing lights on and driving at a snail's pace because you couldn't see 10 ft in front of you. I won't hike it that anymore if I can help it. I have before when it was raining so hard I couldn't even see. The rain in my eyes, thats just not fun. But I didn't want 4 days of wet gear without a way to dry out anything either. Yes! I can't buy a view there, LOL! So foggy and misty. We definitely need the sun to dry things out. I'll be going back in a few days and praying for better conditions. Hope you enjoy your time on the AT.

Torrential rain you say....I knew you were in the UK lol. I am trying to keep my backpack to a minimum and have done for the last couple of months and man can you tell the difference. Another great idea is the two cars and even better was the lunch, that looked great as well as very colourful. So too the Autumn (Fall) colours on the trail but man that rain sure sucked at the end! Cheers Alan

Yes! The weather has been very wet lately. Yes weight makes all the difference in the world in your pack. Working on dialing in my gear slowly cutting down on weight as the budget will allow. As I get older, I feel these hikes more and more. The Fall colors should be getting even better out there. Your amazing support is always very much appreciated my friend. ~RVA~

Regional language differences are interesting. I've heard of gaps before but never really thought about what they meant. New Hampshire has notches which sound like essentially the same thing as gaps.

Hi Seth! You are right. I am always intrigued by the language variations both here in the states and in England for example. We all speak English but have so many different words for the same thing. Yes like Mahoosuck Notch, the hardest mile of the AT. Yep Yep! ~RVA~

Nah, its not out of your league. If I can, you can. I am not doing it all at once. I am doing in like a weekend warrior or mid week warrior. LOL. One step at a time really adds up to miles. And right now, admittedly I am really out of shape after taking 2 months off from hiking over the summer. Trying to get back at it doing what I love. We've been getting a fair bit of rain up our way lately as well. Noticed a language difference in your video today! What you call Gaps, I believe we call Notches. I'm wondering if there is a fundamental difference, or just Northern New England being our weird selves. Bet that green tunnel is going to be golden tunnel in your next video or 2. Those trees look just about ready to turn!

Ah like Mahoosuk Notch. Probably the same thing I would think notches = gaps. Fall leaf changing is well underway. @@RVAHikerGirl I didn't go to college in PA, but I did enjoy several study-tours there, when working towards my Masters in Arboriculture. Loved the AT.
