In this fun Lorcana deck featuring Shenzi, I build a deck that makes use of Maui's Place of Exile - Hidden Island and Map of Treasure Planet. By using those cards with payoffs like Shenzi and Peter Pan, we can have a great time exploring some of the new mechanics from Into the Inklands.

Just wanna say, I enjoy your videos. While I don’t think your intention is to “break the meta” it’s cool to see a channel that shows the potential of what’s considered non-META. The casual player base needs to know they have good options too! Not everyone can afford or is willing to pay $40 for a card.

I agree...his videos and under utilized deck techs are awesome..but 4 beasts and 4 robin hoods aren't exactly... "Non Meta" or "Budget Friendly"... that's like what... $300+ for those 8 cards..if you get a great deal.

I'm glad that you are enjoying my content! Thanks to Pixelborn, I don't have to worry about the price tag too much, although there are always budget substitutions available for paper play. I like experimenting and trying out fun cards to see how far we can push then. Trying to break the meta is typically about subtle tweaks and teching for matchups, which is fun too in its own way. I want to look at the sea of possibilities of cool stuff first. :)

If it's your turn, you get to choose the order of the triggers. Instead of a stack, you get "the bag" in Lorcana. Any pending triggers can be resolved in any order of what triggers are in the bag.

from comprehensive rules: "8.7.5. If there are abilities from multiple players in the bag, the active player chooses and resolves all of their abilities first, including any that were added as a result of resolving abilities. They continue to resolve their abilities until they have no more to resolve." so in the case of shenzi vs Flynn you should draw then discard if they both trigger. However I couldn't find weather or not a triggered ability activates if it can't be resolved. EDIT: got clarification on discord that Flynn will indeed trigger even if the attacking player has no cards in hand.

In the event that triggers occur simultaneously, the player whose turn it is chooses which trigger to resolve first

Thanks for the detailed explanation. It is an interesting way to make resolving triggers simple. I'm use to stacks (MTG) and chains (Yugioh), but a simple: "Do all your stuff, then pass" approach seems fitting for Lorcana.

21:50 You're mistaking Shenzi's ability with Jafar Dreadnaught's. Jafar needs to banish the character to draw the card, Shenzi only needs to challenge. So in this scenario, you could have gotten your card draw AND the 2 lore from Robin Hood.

I didnt think shenzi would be this strong, though it seems most steel decks absolutely need to run beast and Robin hood now which imo hurts creativity on deck building

@@SinamonX Robin Hood x2 is a good way to keep aggro off your back, which can be troublesome for a slower list trying to Shenzi + Map. Beast is a nice filler card that is one of the best draw engine right now, so I will have to agree that they are strong inclusion in most decks. There aren't that many powerhouse inkables in the game yet. As the pool grows, the lists will get more variety.

The 1-2 drop slots are getting defined but shift targets or ramp in a lot of decks. There aren't a lot of good pairs available and Morph encourages the Beast / Tinkerbell even further.

@@SinamonX I guess the term is “auto include” but I disagree. Just because something is well-rounded, doesn’t mean they’re right for the job. Sometimes you need a card that does one thing really well.

you do not need to have two locations out to move to a location - you can move to a location you are already at

Jim Hopkins is a great card, but I wanted to try Shenzi + Map of Treasure Planet together. It forced my colors and I built from there. I am quite interested in building Ruby-Emerald location as well, but that will be for another time.
