When you have products, you have to apply them properly for them to work. Hyaluronic acid is a water loving hydrophilic molecule. Your face should be damp. Right after washing it is the proper time to put it on your face. Use some rose water, coconut water, or aloe water to provide moisture if you need to. Otherwise, the hyaluronic acids will such the moisture from your skin leaving it dryer than before. Use an oil like Pomifera Rose to moisturizer and lock in the moisture. Pomifera Rose will be absorbed into your skin. It’s an amazing new oil for the skin. It acts like an occlusive to hold in moisture. Check out Pomifera Rose oil blend or the pure version. I used to be a consultant, but I’m not now

I found this exact thing out in two strange ways. First my Gynecologist prescribed a product with HA in it for menopausal dryness and it caused massive redness, burning and even bleeding, then my ophthalmologist prescribed eye drops with HA for eye dryness which caused more dryness and burning. If it wasn’t for both situations I wouldn’t have put it together but HA was the only common denominator. So happy this video popped up on my feed today.

From what I learned about the use of hyaluronic acid serum, you should not use it on dry skin. Because if you do, it'll cause exactly what you say by drawing the moisture it wants from your skin. First, you wet your skin with water, then while it is still wet you use the hyaluronic acid to bind that water, and then while it is still wet you use a moisturizer to lock that on the top of your skin so it doesn't evaporate. Glycerin would apparently work just as well, but you don't really see glycerin serums in the drugstore. But yes, to use hyaluronic acid on its own is actually drying and all those skincare products manufacturers should be sued for spreading misinformation.

I feel like not a lot of people actually know how to use HA correctly….You’re supposed to dampen the crap out of your face, and then put it on. HA itself is not hydrating, but mixed with water it allows the water to sink into your skin, and can be very hydrating.

I think you didnt watch the video correctly, it doesnt matter what you do with it it will not “sink in” to the place where it’s needed - the dermis. Its just sits at the top and not doing much longterm. It literally is taking water from your skin afterwards no matter how much water you put on your skin. Whats the point of the HA if you need to put a moisturizer on after, it takes the moisture from the moisturizer. Like whats the point 😂

I learned to apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin only never on to dry skin and then to always seal it in with an occlusive barrier. That is the only way it is going to work without transepidermal water loss. It won’t penetrate deep into the dermis, but it will make the top layer of skin look really nice if you do it correctly! My late grandmother was a real beauty. She had the most beautiful, alabaster, flawless skin at the age of 94 years. She never watched KZfaq or bought any overhyped product in her life. One thing I learned from her is to stay away from overhyped and overpriced magic potions. Personally I do think there are three magic potions which has transformed my 44 year old skin. They are Tretinoin, Vit C and 50 plus sunscreen. People think I am 30 years old 🤣

Before hyaluronic acid was in anything, it was in serums which you put on, then you put moisturizer over. That worked beautifully, so everybody started adding it to their cream/lotion/potion and upset the balance. Those of us who've been using skincare longer than a minute know this.

THANK YOU! I get SOOO frustrated with the ads in magazines and the many commercials. A Dermatologist friend told me years ago about the BS that advertisers use in order to make money. I’ve tried to tell people, but no one believed me. Or, I’ve had people say, “Your skin is like porcelain. Do you use HA?” I’ve been told it works well as an injectable, but I’ve never had my face injected with anything. I send those who think it’s a “Miracle Worker” to this video!

I hate that product so much. It's called cheap but yeah it's 30ml and it's not even as well formulated as the Korean toners which are 150 ml and only 2-3 times more of the price. Sticky AF, even the pipe can't hold it. Doesn't absorb fast enough and dries me out when it's finally absorbed. I always try to use moisturizer as soon as possible but I still feel dry after The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid.

Very good explanation, I hope people were patient enough to watch this through. The way I use HA is that I slap it on my skin, wait for 5 mins and then either spray facial mist or splash tap water (ours is very clean) on and immediately follow with either oil or some other product that seals the moisture in. Used this way, HA smoothens the fine lines without drying the skin too much.
@melb2258
@melb2258 4 ай бұрын
I use it that way too. However I’ve stopped using it everyday, down to few times a week … I notice the smoothing better and it works really good on my inner thighs and upper arms, it really does the job for me in those areas.

I used to have very dry skin, so dry that I feared washing my face if I did not have access to a moisturizer right away. After watching your videos about HA, I went to go look at the ingredients of my moisturizers, and lo and behold, HA was in every one of them. I decided to get a drug store moisturizer without HA or SH (Pacifica vegan ceramide cream) and after 2 days of using it day and night, my skin completely changed. My skin is no longer immediately dry and uncomfortable after a shower or a face wash. I threw away my old moisturizer and never looked back. I can now wash my face after a workout at the gym and not be afraid of having uncomfortably dry skin for the rest of the day. THANK YOU!!!

I totally love this video! I'm a bit late to your video but its still relevant because of how massive the long play HA is making in marketing stories! I am a formulation chemistry student and I also had the same thoughts about HA as a straight hero topical! As a formulations chemist, the rule of thumb with HA, esp. the Sodium Hyaluronate, is to use super low % in context with the rheology modifier we're using.. really to help buff up and assists in hydration of the rheology modifiers we use in formulation. It helps makes things creamy, smooth and feel silky. So for the consumer, it's used in a way to support other key ingredients that keep your skin moisturised. It boosts the body of the moisturiser, so it feel amazingly smooth when it's applied and helps keeps the formula stable longer (from oxidizing) which is a great thing. But to claim that it will actually plump, it's the combinations of all the ingredients together that will do that... not the HA.. literally, no. Love your work Dr. S.I x

While it is from 3 years ago, I wanted to thank you because my skin is aging, very dry and having issues with redness and purchased hyaluronic acid products based on their claims of being moisturing and great for aging skin, but so far, it seems as though my skin is dryer and even more red, so disappointing.
