I hate it when influencers will bash a product because the active ingredients are towards the bottom of the ingredient list without taking into consideration that some ingredients can be dangerous at higher concentrations.

It’s always a red flag when an influencer talks about the formulations instead of talking about their experiences with the products. These influencers don’t know how product formulations work, so they only think that if the active ingredients are low, the product is bad.

Personal notes: 1. Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) reduces inflammation (especially if you have acne). 2. Reduces oil production. 3. Use products that contain less than 5%. Too much is damaging. 4. Niacinamide supplements are shown to decrease the risks of developing certain types of skin cancer. 5. Products recommended: Super Pure by Glossier (it also has zinc). Alpha H (weird scents). Skin Ceuticals Metacell Renewing B3 (can be used as a light moisturizer, especially if you leave in a tropical place). Elta MD PM therapy, a moisturizer (but she feels like it sits on her skin only and it has a chalky feeling).

You should do a video on Korean skincare next! Your opinions on it, whether it's underrated/overrated, comparisons to Western skincare, perhaps product recommendations, etc. Koreans just seem to care so much more about their appearance, for better or worse.

@@valentinaci7888 Right! I'm certainly not going to say that it's a blemish free system, but the floor for Korean skincare products is significantly higher than it is for American products. I think it would be interesting for Dr. Idriss to explore that difference, as well as the plastic surgery boom/pandemic (depending on who you ask)

I discovered that niacinamide breaks me out. My skin is doing much better since I removed any product that contain niacinamide from my routine (cleansers, moisturizers etc.). And I’m pretty convinced after the intense acne breakouts I experienced for the last 6months, only thing that worked for me was keeping niacinamide away from my bathroom vanity. Everyone says it’s good for acne, I wonder why it hated my skin and attacked me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m almost 30, and I feel with your help and guidance, I’ve made more informed decisions about my skin that I wish I knew sooo much sooner...thank you so much for these! @@shereeneidriss Azelaic acid is the best ingredient I have ever discovered for acne (which I've struggled with for 20 years)! I actually starting using it for rosacea and was blown away by how much it cleared my hormonal acne - without drying my skin in the least! I started with Paula's Choice 10% azelaic acid and then got a prescription for 15% Finacea. Now I'm using PC in the morning and Finacea in the evening. I would LOVE to watch a Let's Get Intimate on this ingredient (whether more is better etc.) Thanks for your wonderful videos!

This is the reason why you should visit a derm or listen to one instead of taking beauty advise from celebrities and other beauty youtubers. I thought I was using niacinamide for the first time after getting a niacinamide serum. I realised today that I have been using nicotinamide waaaaaaaay before this whole niacinamide game took to light. P.S nicotinamide is alot cheaper than niacinamide serums.. like literally 10 times less! It's prescription strength though

I've tried niacinamide (I have oily skin so of course I've heard of it) it makes my face tingle like I've put a glycolic acid on it and eventually break out. Very validating to know this is something that can happen at higher percentages.

You're awesome. I am officially a huge fan. I won't lie, the first video I ever watched was the one about Gwen Paltrow and although I agreed and understood why you were frustrated, I thought the face expressions/comments were harsh. Every single other video I LOVE so much. Thank you for being honest, direct, funny and informative!!!! :)

I grew up with really bad breakouts that persisted through my 20s. I’m now 33, have never graduated from my daily neutrogena acne scrub, have recently done a deep dive into skincare, and am realizing that I’m wrecking my skin! I still have areas that get very oily, but also have flaking and tightness in places. I rarely have breakouts anymore, but have some redness, uneven tone and discoloration (brownish yellow areas), and dullness. The pores in and around my nose also still get pretty clogged. I’ve recently ordered some Korean products - toner and moisturizer from YesStyle - and I want to use a niacinamide product. I’m still shopping for a cleanser. Thank you for this video and you channel. Loving the content!

I really dislike how much the big skincare youtubers hype niacinamide up as if it's the end all be all for everyone with no regard to the fact that it is literally in most products today and more and more people are developing bad reactions to it, especially with products like the 10% niacinamide serum. My mom literally can't use even the gentlest cleanser that has a bit of it inside, her face gets all read and hot.

But if you want to know more about taking care of skin of color, you need to see two of my favorite as well, they expert when it comes to skin of color. Dr. Alexis Stephens. She's dermatologist/ cosmetic chemist and Dr. Vanita Rattan, she's a doctor and cosmetic formulator specifically for skin of color.

The ordinary niacinamide destroyed my skin. I found out that in way lower concentrations niacinamide is best for me, I use COSRX Galactomyces 95 tone balancing essence, which has niacinamide 2% and is probably my favourite skincare product. I don’t know if that’s a too low concentration to actually make improvements but I do feel my skin better when I use it. Side note, as a Libra I loved that reference 💜

I love the purito Niacinamide and galactomyces serum. The % of Niacinamide is 5% which my skin LOVES and the galactomyces is 92% and does pretty much all the same things niacinamide does. So you get a double whammy but without just increasing the niacinamide to the point where it's irritating or even inefficient.

I gave The Ordinary serum few tries, but I have similar feelings to Shereene. Feels a bit too heavy for my combination, acne prone skin... Now I prefer to look for Niacinamide in my moisturizers (where this ingredient is usually just a "supporting" ingredient, not always even highlighted). My favorite ones are CosRX "AC Collection Lightweight Soothing Moisturizer" or iUNIK "Centella Calming Gel Cream".
