That's the pony personality. They can fend for themselves. If you fall off or fail somehow as a leader, they will gladly take over.

That one pony with no rider reminds me of my cross country horse, Jinx. I rode the 13 mile course on him 5 times in the spread of a week. On competition day, I fell off towards the end and the security told me my horse finished the course, jumps, water, and all.

There was a Shetland at the stables I go riding at and I am pretty sure he would've won this race, because as well as being the smallest pony there, he was the most energetic, when I was trying to jump over a trot jump I couldn't stop him from cantering so I had to be led towards the jump, his name is Biscuit.

Proof that some of them do enjoy it! I have seen it time and time again. If they hated it, they would stop and head back to the barn or let someone catch them. This pony was not "following the herd", it was leading, competing, and having fun!

I'm 5'10" and have ridden a shetland. It wasn't riding riding him, but he was new and liked to buck and I was helping my riding teacher out (since I'm so tall, I could just literally stand up and he couldn't buck any more). He was just fine, and i know another girl who rides him and is bigger than these.

that shows me that the ponies really are having fun and don't run just because the rider tells them to do :) cute!

I know it's cute and funny but they should have interrupted the race and made all of the kids stop to catch that pony. Its legs could get tangled in the reins, make him trip and even break his leg at worst. Please keep that in mind next time! :)

the jockeys are good and never cruel. theyre not thrashing them with whips or anything a few taps are okay and they never use force the ponies love it and the jockeys do too
