Love the videos!!! I’ve been watching them since I got my shiba the end of last year. They are very smart, stubborn and funnny dogs! I love my girl!!! I have a question about getting your dog to go to the bathroom while taking a walk. I usually take Ava out on a walk and she will use the bathroom. However, some days she refuses to pee or poo 💩 thought at first it was because she wanted to stay outside longer, I put her on the porch on her leash anytime she shows that she wants to stay outside. I’m not quite sure what causes her to be so stubborn with having to use the bathroom at times…any tips or tricks??? I’ve tried treats also and she just doesn’t want to give!!

I’m gonna be honest about stopping in the middle of the road one . I have no patience for that Bcs there is cars literally also waiting for him to move lol so I give a little pressure saying let’s go. And after a few times of that he never stops anymore

I love this dog breed. Though I have grown up with my parents and aunty in the same household and we’ve had 5 German Shepherd dogs throughout the years. I am curious to see when I get a place of my own, I’d be looking forward to getting a male Shiba Inu companion. So hope that goes well. 😊

German Shepherds are guard dogs so they are quite good family dogs. Shibas are small which makes them attractive to people but the truth is, they're hunting breeds... so it is difficult if you want to ensure your dog has chance to exercise it's instincts/behaviour by going into the wild (in which case you'll have to worry about training and recall and safe environment) or else not allow the Shiba these opportunities thus depriving the dog of a lot of it's natural behaviour. This is all in the OP's video eg be careful around small prey animals and the way they are independent eg stopping for no reason - they're semi-autonomous due to their hunting backgrounds so being a leesh dog is too controlling for them in effect. I imagine the allergies are probably because the dog is not in a cold enough environment and/or in an environment which is too sanitized... looking at the OP's video of their tidy house. Again is a balance: Dogs are human companion animals so need to learn how to live in a human world with humans but equally humans need to understand the animal needs of the particular creature they take on a responsibility to live with and provide for for it's entire life and create an animal that has a rich experience (dogs are very sentient and much more than is generally understood by science so far too thus they are precious creatures to ensure they live well). With all that said, if more people could be like the OP and work so hard to make their dogs happy and provide multiple inputs that would be wonderful. But yes Shiba are more tricky breeds to fit with humans than other breeds because their needs are more to the wild side still.

@@commentarytalk1446 Ah yes, in the further future, I plan to buy a house in South Dakota and leave California to explore and go on an adventure. I would love to explore the state with a trustful companion and why not make it a Shiba Inu right? I will definitely spend as much time as I can and be a strict trainer. OP’s videos are very helpful so I am very critical on taking care of dogs, though I was little at the time of owning 5 German Shepherd dogs, I’m also aware that the minute you brought your puppy home, it’s socializing time. That means a walk to the dog park everyday so that shibe can get a hang and make friends so that they don’t get bored, because I’m aware that a young Shiba Inu pup can be very hyper and energetic. And you also have to watch out for the diet, and since South Dakota has a 3 month of winter season, be prepared to brush as the puppy can shed. 👍

I just have a few things to add since my Ozzy is 14 years old...he is fussy about food and treats! When you find what he likes for dry food I use that as a treat. We live in CT... his skin allergies start in August when he starts to get his winter coat. At that time he has his annual vet checkup and gets an allergy shot. That usually stops his itchy skin!

Please make sure to have your dog at about age 7 years...a dental checkup! Ozzy had to have 3 teeth pulled. I'm not sure if it was because I wait until age 12 to have him checked out. The dental checkup is done at the vet and they do have your dog for the day as he has to be completely knocked out!

Thank you Ozzy's parent. Was the allergy shot cytopoint? Jimmy also developed environmental allergy when he turned one year old and we tried cytopoint too but it was expensive. He is currently on allergy medication(antihistamine). With the teeth definitely should have your dog checked up early on in his life. It is really expensive to have vet cleaned the teeth though, it costs about $500 here in my area ... we try to brush his teeth and have he chew on bones often to try to keep his teeth clean for as long as we can.

i would want to have one, but the problem is where i live is a hot place, during summer we can arrive to 40ºC or more... i think he would suffer a lot with the weather and is the main reason to think about not to have a Shiba Inu... :(

Hello. Do you only give Jimmy dry food? What about wet food? Are there always food or do you portions the food?

Hi, we are feeding him half dry food and half raw food. He is allergic to a lot of conventional protein source but is ok with turkey so Jimmy is on Turkey Dog food. I also give him on alternate days raw turkey and turkey neck. In general, conventional dog kibbles should provide all required nutrients. If your dog can have salmon food, salmon is a great source too. We leave food out all day for Jimmy. Below is a relevant video about food that you might be interested in. Good luck! My dog is not a full-blooded Shiba Inu but he has a lot of the traits he is stubborn when he decides to sit down he stays there but when I got him he picked me I kept pushing him back but he kept coming at me till I finally just give up and took him I would not trade him for anything,,, he runs off every chance he gets is this part of their behavior he absolutely loves water and outside. Is there anything you can do that will help me make him come to me I have to get the car out and go get him and tell him we're going bye-bye, to get him back in the car and take him home

I have a Shiba inu puppy. And I also have a lil guinea pig. I don't know how is this possible, but he never attacked him. He likes to just lie next to his crate or lick him, they are so cute. 😍🐶 miracles like this really happen and I'm really happy they became friends. Because honestly I was really scared how this ,,meeting session" would end up😂

Take baby out on harness to dog park, hardware, pet stores, outdoor events as often as possible & use every occasion as a training session! Shiba Inu are natural born stars & love to be on display. Be sure to pack h2o &:treats to share with other doggo's 🐶🐕🐺
