Күн бұрынHave you ever thought that there may be a way to beat shield besides grab? Well, unless you get a shield break there really isn't, but it is possible to pressure an opponent's shield to get them to do something that IS punishable. And that's what this guide is all about.

1. Back them into a corner 2. Be safe on shield 3. React and take mental notes 4. Know how to beat your opponent's favourite oos option and beat it 5. Learn the opponents timing for getting oos 6. Remember the option you punished last time

MulletEagle Choose a character that has a completely different play style that your go to otherwise there’s no point in having a secondary

CAG _ I wouldn't say that, necessarily. I would say that if your main has an echo, you should almost certainly second that echo. Since you don't have to relearn all of the moves and frame data, with them being slightly different enough to have an advantage in some matchups/stages.

@@pokeohtcg my main is Roy and my secondary is Marth... It used to be Marth with a bunch of others that I messed around with. Roy is great with getting in close and personal, punishing, and getting KOs quick, but if somebody is good at spacing and I need to stay away from them and reach a bit more, Marth is a lot better, and floats, whereas Roy is a two-ton boulder. Piranha plant gets Marth.

Hey guys, if you're trying to figure out if a move is safe or not, you can use ultimate frame data.com. as long as your move isn't more negative on shield then your opponent's out of shield option's starting frames, then you'll know it's safe and you can shield to avoid getting hit by it. Ah, though this doesn't necessarily apply to spacing moves like Ike's side tilt, which has enough range and shield stun to outright keep your opponent from being within range of you. So you know... Take a look at the hitbox of a move first before dismissing it as "unsafe".

The harder your press the button, the more damage you do! (Fun fact: the original Street Fighter arcade cabinet played with this idea. The game had one giant button for punch and another one for kick. Light, medium, and heavy attacks were performed by tapping the button lightly, pressing it normally, and whacking it as hard as you can. For reasons that should be obvious to everyone except the arcade cabinet designers at that exact moment, this went out of fashion very fast as many, many Street Fighter arcade cabinets were broken beyond repair.)

Wavedash would be so useful in some situations, like when your opponent is waiting for a jump. It's sad that that's not an option 'cause it sucks

just jump and instant directional air-dodge anyways. It works even better for escaping pressure when you do it half-way through a full-hop, it's just so unbelievably hard to understand.

Hey bananaboy. Love your content. Fellow yoshi main here in ultimate. Can you make a video on kill setups for yoshi? Specifically his forward air... i feel like its a great aerial but is a less reliable spike option than other heroes... i feel like spiking off stage is harder than heroes like falco or c.falcon.

What I dislike is that sometimes a strong move will push the character holding shield away from whoever is attacking. As opposed to doing serious damage

Just moving around the shield and not hitting the shield for shield pressure is such a lost art. But when done it's so beautiful. Mang0, Hax and Lucky are amazing at doing this (any mang0 vs wizzy set is a perfect example of this) NINTENDO LET US RUN THROUGH PEOPLE REEEE

Short hop retreating forward air. Try crossing up the opponents shield with the neutral air or down air. Use his neutral special a lot to close the gap and control the stage. Watch ESAM's pickachu if you want to know more, he's one of the best.

If someone makes their opponent offstage and then they go to the edge of the stage and hits them when the opponent is trying to go onstage, consider edge guarding?

That's called Ledgetrapping, but it's close enough. Edgeguarding is typically better because they're offstage and closer to the Blastzone.
