@@R3MJ0B You should rewatch the video because YOURE the "daft" one. as well as read the pinned comment. Lots of the video is shield mastery yes, but it is not the entirety of the video. If you actually paid attention, you'd realize this. You can do it without shield mastery as well as you can do it on classes other than fighter. If after rewatching you still cant figure it out. Poor you. but ill briefly explain, hes starting the attack animation(/dropping his guard) before the shield blocks, but even though hes mid attack animation, the shield still blocks the attack and he can continue with the attack.

It doesn't just cancel the animation, it actually reduces their impact power to 1, so they get hit with the max recoil animation. It sounds like I'm being pedantic but I only elaborate because it's actually far better than merely "cancelling" the attack

Yes? I frontloaded all of the clips where I hit the 'parry' for a reason. The first few minutes of the video shows off the technique, the rest is clips where I didn't land the tech. There's even a break in the video where I pivot over to Flanged Mace + Adrenaline as the topic instead of the shield parry.

0:38 shows the difference between what you're talking about and the perfect block. With the regular method that you're describing, the shield still gets staggered and there is a slight delay before your attack can come out. With the perfectly timed attack before a block, you initiate your swing at the same time as blocking, which gives you a swing speed advantage, and COMPLETELY bypasses shield stagger from higher impact weapons.

@@Ltsama No he's right, you don't need to let go of block to perform the glitch. You can hold RMB for block and just click LMB to attack as the enemy hit connects. I don't know if holding RMB for the entire duration causes the impact power glitch to occur though. I think what's happening here is there's a desync between client and server as to what state your character is in. The "blocking hit-box frames" of your shield are still active for a few milliseconds while your shield arm moves down despite that you're currently in an attacking state. Because the blocking frames are active and yet to the server you're in an "attacking state" the game doesn't have an assigned value for your impact power; which is defaulting to a number higher than 7 (therefor max staggering anyone that connects with your bugged blocking hitbox).

Does it work if your opponent block the hit?

Nope, pretty easy to dodge a riposte if you swing while not aiming at them, drag your hit onto them, and immediately flick away so they can't drag their longsword for a parry.

You can even do it with a flute on Bard, it's a fully intentended Game Mechanic

Any weapon/shield with a block and attack, any class.
