Very good explanation of the possibilities of this piano. I have a CVP-8 from the 80-ties and I see a lot of simularities with this newer more expanted version is this a good conclusion?? Only I lost my playing book with the chip in it, for guiding me. Do you know if I can still get/buy this books..

Wow!!!! Great job Yamaha!!!! I still prefer the Casio CGP-700 though.

Hi Alexander. We carry Casio as well as Yamaha, and we agree that their pianos and keyboards in the $1000 and under price range are great value. However, a CVP809 is a totally different type of instrument! The Casios sound great for the money, but no pianist is going to hear one and think they're hearing a 9 foot acoustic piano, which we've seen happen with a CVP809 and CVP809GP. The wood key action with counter weights, instrument sounds and features are all on another level too.

11:16: If you play simple melodies yes, but even in 2020, the screen doesn't support hemidemis, quintuplets, sextuplets, septuplets, trills and mordents and various other intermediate+ scoring. So, if you want to accurately display ABRSM Grade 5+ music, the screen often skews notes together illegibly - and you're basically restricted to simple timing. For example, if your music has 5 equal notes in 1 beat or 9 notes in 2 beats, the screen can't show it. Okay for basics, but the piano is NOT marketed for 'the basics' - it's marketed as _verasatile..._ The screen may have changed shape and resolution over the years, but its scoring function is no further advanced than in 2003. That, together with many voices that stem back from CVP309+, this digital piano is superficially impressive, but lacklustre when you delve a little deeper. And that is, sadly, unforgivable. Your demonstration Pete, however, is very impressive.

Hi Gary! We haven't used it for such that level of scoring, so can't comment on using it at such an advanced level. However, for the usage of 99% of players this piano is wonderful! The piano sounds, SA2 instrument sounds, rhythm styles and key feel are all leaps and bounds ahead of older generations of CVP - we have had several customers trade models from even the most recent CVP70_ series in for a CVP809. This video just scratches the surface of all the improvements they have made.
