Funky thing I'm trying where I do each boss in the game twice with phys and magic Nahobino. Only restriction I'm putting in place is phys build can't level magic and magic build can't level strength. Early on these fights are gonna be pretty similar due to the low stats and not much option in the way of party members. Disclaimer, I did use cheat engine to give myself new testament tablets so I don't gave to run through the game twice as I don't really have the time to do that anymore.
This fight was pretty annoying due to the boss' status and it pretty much being a fail condition for him to use Omagatoki: Critical on the first turn.
