I heard this is good for shin splints because apparently shin splits is caused by weak shins?
@theMSKphysio
@theMSKphysio 2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely helpful in the management of shin splints. Shin splints I.e. medial tibial stress syndrome is essentially from overload. There are other types of shin pain for different reasons. Shin raises will improve your capacity to deal with the load but ultimately you must deal with why and how you are overloading that area.

i am having a lot trouble managing to raise the feet in this position. it is also really hard on my heels and a bit the lower back.. it does work better if i sit. Is it just lack of training do you think? or maybe it does not work for some people (different anatomy)?

Good questions. Could be a few things going on here. 1. Sometimes people are more comfortable doing this in running shoes that have soft soles. 2. Others may have neural tension. Check out this video and see if it brings on familiar symptoms. If so, the exercises in the linked video may help the shin raise become more comfortable - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bsqTmMmBntHPh2w.html 3. An alternative is seated, like you mentioned. Here is a version for that - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jMiqeb2bs9WdiKM.html Over time, if one wants to, they can build themselves up to the standing version.

Sure! If you're looking to get everything, you'll have to try different angles and make sure to lift the toes maximally high.
