The song is about his son Devo H Keenan (that's a hint for a later song) and how it changed him. This is a sentimental favorite. It came out when my boys were young and I took them to their 1st concert (TOOL of course). They were 7 & 9. They are in their 20s now.

This song for me is about finding the balance between Wants and Needs, and the never ending battle between the voice in your head telling you to get what you want while the other voice is telling you to remember what you need and need to do....and for him at this time it was his Son being born and the temptations of the road calling him, and even though he tempted the devil with his song and got what he wanted all along he now is not sure this is what he wanted as it has taken him away from his son...and i believe its Jambi pronounce Jahmbee

EMP I've been enjoying watching your Tool reactions since the beginning. Now that you are hooked-in you should get the full Tool experience and do their entire catalog from the start. The evolution of their music over time is mind bending and they don't make a bad song. The ToolArmy will turn out in force. You can start with their first album, Undertow. They do have an EP that was released before Undertow called Opiate but, it's my understanding, that for some reason the first song on Opiate (Sweat) tends to get a copyright block but if you do Undertow first then you can go back to Opiate and it won't block you. A lot of their albums have intro ans songs that are meant to be played together, if you want I can give you the full run-down on that as well. #SpiralOut
