The guys can and does sing live. ALMOST EVERY band uses backing tracks too because they record mutliple layers of vocals and instruments in the studio and they want to recreate that sound for the audience.

No, it's not playback. This was filmed so they could sell it, the company went back into the film after the concert and replaced parts of Brent's vocals with the original vocal tracks from the studio.

They're amazing live, I really don't care if they lip synced this or not, they have the raw talent in concert too.

@JeffHardyRocks3000 He didn't lip sync. He was actually singing live, they just dubbed the album version's vocals over his real ones. Which is annoying. I highly doubt it was the band that decided to do that. It was probably the record label or company that recorded it. It still sucks though.

As far as i know, This show was played fully live. The DVD release of it has been dubbed with studio tracks. I'm talking about Brent's vocal parts of course. You can still find some recordings made by the crowd and it proofs that Brent was singing live on that show without any playback.

I really feel Brent is THE best vocalist for live rock band performances!

Yeah, he's not lip syncing, if you've been to a concert you can hear the raw sound of the instruments and vocals to those touched up in the studio. What I heard went from raw to studio. The intro is raw, but after that it no longer has that reverberation and echo a real concert has, for some parts at least, odd choice. Some do it full raw or full studio, the latter is dumb but it doesn't lead to any, "WTF?", moments.

This is essentially the electric version of the performance from "Somewhere in the Stratosphere." I approve.

Some parts are playback, but I'm sure they did it because someone told them to do. Otherwise, Brent wouldn't put his microphone up while "singing", it looks like that he is saying "IT'S PLAYBACK AND I DON'T LIKE IT" while his microphone is up.

This show in my opinion is a stain to Shinedowns reputation. It's the only bad gig they did as far as I know. If you guys think they aren't shit look up "Shinedown Acoustic Live Kansas City". No fake there. One of the best acoustic gigs I've seen

Great singer. Some parts were live and some playback. U guys are crazy if u think the whole thing is live. U can clearly hear double vocals where the lyrics trailed off into next line. So unless he has a twin, parts were played back or sung over.

the verse transition vocally does not match the chorus vocally because what I hear is the recorded studio vocals playing when he is singing and not only that he held the verse note to long and failed to leave room to transition into the chorus to make it believable. I also heard Brent kicked out all the past members because they didn't agree with his lip syncing and honestly I don't agree with that shit either!

Odd..The verse is clearly live but the chorus is dubbed. Not sure why, maybe the uploader thought splicing in the dub would make it sound better, which is silly since Brents voice sounds on par (if not better) live. Anyway, weird choice by either the uploaded or the original editors that released it. But yeah, the chorus vocals are 1 for 1 album recording sadly

Parts of it sound real and other sound lip synced. But there's literally a part where he's headbanging with the drummer, no mic near his mouth, and supposedly belting at the same time. So I'm thinking this isn't legit, sadly. Although, I can tell it's not the original studio recording, so it's probably a pre-recorded vocal track. Also if you watch his mouth and lips it doesn't match up half the time.

singing to a damn track!! the rock equivalent of lip syncing. my little band has had a few openers and peers tell us that they can't play without a backing track and were told to pack up and get the heck out of the venue bc that's bullshit! I understand sometimes there are certain elements of the song that may require some sort of track but even that is gay to me. but when the main vocal track is being played and the singer doesn't even hide it well like this video clearly shows it makes me wanna vomit. especially bc b. smith is so good and can pull it off without all that shit in background
