Shinedown is out of Jacksonville Florida and they cover Lynyrd Skynyrds "SIMPLE MAN." Brent Smith owns that song. Amazing vocalist. ✌

Brent owns simply every song he's touching. Amazing vocalist. Also don't miss to check out some of the earlier stuff. They have some faster stuff too and keep quiet a variety of songs. Shinedown - Devour for example. And as said before, those guys rule on the stage. They're amazing live! Good songs to start with shinedown are sound of madness, devour, 45, or stranger inside.

Funny u mention Alter bridge as they are good friends and touring buddies on numerous tours over here in the Uk. If you were choosing a first song to do for Shinedown this wouldn’t be my suggestion. For me Sound of Madness or 45 would be a better starting point for to get in to these guys.

This song is on the softer side of Shinedown...you need to visit their cover of LS Simple Man...Sound of Madness...45...Monsters...Brent Smith's vocals are always on point one of the best rock vocalists out there...he also did a song with Apocalyptica "Not Strong Enough".

This was written before Covid. But it may have been prophetic, so this video is a tribute to front line workers. Personally I love Shinedown. I don’t think they make a bad song. The “ Crow and the butterfly” is a great song and video.

If you really want to hear Brent's awesome voice you must check out Shed some light live acoustic from kansas city with Shinedown! That song gives me goosebumps every time! 🤘🤤😍

This song didn't make the album Amaryllis so during Covid they brought it out to raise money for the organization that made sure first responders and doctors & nurses got masks. They raised 500.000 for direct relief after the band gave 20,000. Maybe people don't like it but it raised alot of money to help during Covid.

Not a comment on the video or song per se, but rather a note to say I'm still around recovering from surgery (leg. . . ankle really). Now for the most part (as the bulk of the past weeks' suggestions) is not my cup of tea. Not really. This particular track is right down the middle, perhaps better than average, just doesn't tickle my fancy. (As an aside, the discussion on intervals, as a person growing up with a 20th century composer father, going to the 7th is _always_ an option. . . :) Also he does write everything in one go-- first draft is the final draft.)

These guys get a lot of flack. But they are great song writers. Great production. Great musicianship. Yeah they have some cheesy radio stuff. But hey, ya gotta eat. This is a great song.

This is one of their weakest singles. React more Shinedown. Diamond Eyes, Devil, 45, Monster, Save Me, Humam Radio, The Crow & The Butterfly, I'll Follow You...

@anyway96 I absolutely loved Gigaton. Some great stuff on there, particularly the song 7 O'Clock. Everyone's tastes are a little different though. I've always thought Binaural wasn't up to much. Gigaton though, for me, it's the best thing they've done since the holy trinity.

@anyway96 Backspacer was great! Love that wee album! The only negative thing I can say about it is that it's too short. You're just settling into it then boom, the end, literally 😁 I have this vague recollection of reading somewhere years ago that during the Backspacer sessions they recorded enough songs for a whole other album. Do you know if there's any truth in that?

Shinedown have a handful of really great singles and the singer has a really great voice with almost-Chris Cornell range. Songs like Save Me, 45, I Dare You, etc. are ones that I’d recommend but to be honest - this is their most generic, predictable, uninspired single in their catalog. Honestly, I would never intro anyone to the band with this song and it’s the first time I’ve heard it. Frankly, I’m disappointed they even wrote this commercial crap. The singers amazing vocal range isn’t even on display here. So to the requester: WHY?

If you would’ve paid any attention to detail at all you would’ve caught that this was mainly for my two daughters. If you don’t like it, then you can get glad in the same clothes you got mad in.
