This is one of my favourite SHINee videos ever. The way Minho handled the question about Jonghyun will always break yet warm my heart. He handled such a sensitive topic with such consideration, dignity and warmth. He’s so good at talking to children.

One thing I always find really funny is how other artists from the same entertainment explain how there's a "table at the cafeteria even the CEO avoids" which is a table with Minho, Yunho (TVXQ), and Suho (EXO) because they're so "intense" haha

Taemin explained jonghyun's absence in a different way. The kids mother shared that he explained to the kid what happend in a wonderful way. I understand why they didn't show this sequence, but I it was his choice to tell the kid the truth and it makes me a bit sad that it got cut.

We're always like "Oh they're so pure" about every second idol, but seriously, all SHINee members have such beautiful hearts and warm intentions in everything they do. They've got me through a lot. Hey Max, fun fact: One of Minho's nickname is Flaming Charisma. And you saying he has a charismatic presence, nice! Also, he is very competitive and stubborn. Onew is the leader but he is very quiet, like an introspective person.

Yes, Key is very socially smart, and Onew more than coolness I always feel like there's a softness to him, in the way he speak and presents himself. Thank you for the analysis! I hope you'll continue doing more SHINee videos. I know sometimes it's more difficult to find older content with Jonghyun available or content that won't get copyrighted, but it'd be interesting for you to see them in different stages of their career.

Thanks for reacting to SHINee again. You mentioned how genuine they are, and how they don't try to put up some kind of front, and I think that is what I love most about them. Every video I've seen of them (beyond the very early days when they were told how they were supposed to act - Minho was supposed to be the "cool silent" one who didn't talk! LOL - luckily that didn't last long) just proves to me again and again that they are genuinely kind people who are humble and compassionate not only with each other but with fans and people in general. They don't ever pretend to be something they are not. You can tell when they are having fun and you can tell when they aren't really feeling it, even though they are always polite and professional even at those times (like your last SHINee reaction with Key who was a little over it). You can see they are very open-hearted in the way they show interest in the people they are talking to.

Thanks for another SHINee reaction and analysis. I think you've pretty much hit the head on most of their characteristics: Minho is a very charismatic, extrovert, and sporty guy. He's very engaging and confident in who he is. As I said before, he's especially engaging with kids and will make a wonderful father some day. Key is the "MOM" of the group, always taking care of the other members while also being a VERY sassy and sarcastic comedian. I remember you saying in your last reaction of them that Key didn't seem to laugh a lot and was very serious...YOU NEED TO WATCH THEIR VLIVES IN THE CAR. He is WILD! Onew became much more introverted, quiet and less confident after Jonghyun's death. As SHINee's leader, he felt responsible for not knowing what was going to happen. Of course this is totally untrue, but it has taken a long time for Onew to recover. With the promotions of his new mini-album, I'm seeing glimpses of the more confident and engaging comedian that Onew was in the past. It's been good to see. The only real miss I'm seeing in your analysis is of Taemin and, as you said, you really haven't seen too much with him. Taemin is more complicated than the others. He isn't the way he first appears. There is an extreme duality about him. On stage he is a beast; off stage he is this sweet, cute, shy marshmallow of a guy who can be naive sometimes; clueless other times. He loses things often and can break something just by lightly touching it. However, Taemin can also get mischievous and even savage when warranted. One of his friends described him as "tofu with a core of iron." Taemin was, at the time of his debut, one of the youngest idols to ever debut with a group. He was only 14 (intl. age) and 12 when he entered the company, SM Entertainment -- a baby. He has said many times that he is a very introverted person and that remained true through much of his early career. He was awkward and terribly shy to the point that the other members would gently prompt him to answer a few interview questions, but then took care of the rest. He was not as inclined to speak during award shows, variety shows, or concerts as the other members. In fact, he developed a habit (very cute habit I might add) of having to touch (usually the thigh) or hide his face by hugging one of the other members when he became anxious/nervous during speaking moments: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/js1ifrZ827OUl2Q.html Essentially, they raised him: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hLljmruZtduRmok.html Jonghyun's death was devastating to all the members, but I believe even more so to Taemin. He and Jonghyun knew each other during training prior to meeting the other members of SHINee. Jonghyun took the very young Taemin under his wing. JH said on his social media posts that he was Taemin's 2nd Mom and president of Taemin's fan club. He even delayed his own solo concert by two days so he could attend Taemin's first solo concert in Japan with Onew. He showed up wearing every piece of merch to show his support, which tickled Taemin. In addition, it was JH along with Onew who taught Taemin how to sing, as he was too young at debut due to immature vocal cords. So you can only imagine how soul-wrecking it must have been for Taemin to lose such a big brother at that time. His solo songs, "Under My Skin" and "Identity" reveal both his dark feelings and loss at that time, as well as how he feels like JH has become a part of his own identity. To add insult to injury, less than a year after that tragedy, the other members began leaving for the military within months of each other. Taemin, who had always had such a strong support group around him, was left alone to continue his solo career and promote SHINee. While this forced him to come out of his shell more, and he became much closer with his/SHINee's fans, with each and every interview, show appearance, concert tour, he always mentioned how very much he missed his SHINee "brothers". After a couple years, during a VLIVE in his car, Taemin showed his excitement of SHINee's reunion by letting fans know that the brothers were returning very soon beginning with Onew. He literally was beaming and said he wanted them to "hurry, hurry, hurry" and then the phrase that broke many of us "....I won't be alone anymore." kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bZ6CY5ilmNPKmn0.html When they did return and had their first VLIVE together, literally the day Minho was discharged and rushed to the studio backstage (still in uniform) where Taemin was recording a performance for his new album release ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p5t5eKqpuKq5cpc.html ) , Taemin transformed and became a beaming, euphoric, happy, chatterbox that shocked most of us SHAWOLs. He had started learning English and used us as his tutors. We were delighted to see this new, exuberant Taemin. It was like he finally climbed out of a long, dark tunnel: Unfortunately that euphoria didn't last but 7 months. It was Taemin's turn to enlist and that crushed him. He told us the news of his enlistment in a very sad and tearful goodbye during a VLIVE. We cried with him. He should be discharged in November, 2022. The Taemin of the past always hid his innermost thoughts and feelings. However, the more recent Taemin has been very open with SHAWOLs, always expressing his appreciation and love; how he misses meeting us through his concerts, and how important we are to him. He, who was always the one who never cried out of the group, can now cry on VLIVEs and reveal his emotions, concerns, and what he fears, shows an amazing amount of growth and candor. He has come out of his shell. Another thing to realize is that Taemin is extremely intelligent. His fortes are math and science (he enjoys watching physics documentaries...lol!), as well as philosophy which he demonstrates through his music concepts of Stockholm syndrome in "Criminal", Plato's Theory of Forms in "IDEA", and the temptations of fame and making the choice to overcome those temptations or cave to them in "Famous." He also regularly infuses his Catholic faith into his messaging through the very in-depth retelling of Genesis 3 in his MV for "Want" and the message of salvation into "Heaven" all while usually finding a way to incorporate the sign of the Cross into his choreos and establishing his "T-Pose" into every choreo to also reflect the sign of the Cross. As a very detail-oriented person, he involves himself into every little detail of his MVs. He's also well-known as a work-a-holic. Sometimes practicing dancing (one of his loves) for up to 17-18 hours straight! Something I absolutely love about Shinee is that the five of them have such different characters and personalities but they come together and complement each other so perfectly and seamlessly like a puzzle or smth and it's a joy to watch

Thank you for reacting to SHINee!! Each member has their own unique personalities and vocal colors which together has made one of the best discographies in kpop. They have been working together in the industry for 14 years now. And when they debuted in 2008 the SHINee members age range was 14-18 at the time with Taemin being the youngest. Minho has a very big heart and has time and time again shown his endless support for his members. Minho has shown up to his members solo concerts, late night radio shows, musicals, music video recordings and has always been their number one fan. Key has a lot of experience working with kids, as he often visits children's hospitals and donates art supplies for the kids. Onew has always been reserved and calming, as the leader of SHINee he has shown his strength by listening to those around him and comforting them. Instead of standing in front as a leader, he strengthens SHINee from within by providing them with someone who they can rely on and someone they can lean on in times of struggle. Taemin, being the youngest has a youthful energy and chaotic antics that can put a smile on anyone's face. He loves to tease the members like any other sibling would.

Taemin is definitely not the type to please people. He’s a very kindhearted and genuine person, but he’s an introvert by nature and he used to be very shy around people. In their younger days he was really happy to let his hyungs do the talking, while he would mostly stay silent, observe and learn. Your observation about him being very aware of people around him and focusing his whole energy on the child is actually spot on. I think he’s the type of person with very high emotional intelligence and sensitivity. He knows how to communicate with adults and kids and how to make them feel comfortable and safe. It was very clear in SuperM (his other group), where he quickly became a role model and very trusted older brother to all the younger members and was given the nickname Mother Taemresa. He’s also very funny and loves teasing his SHINee members. When being around them he’s definitely radiating this “youngest in the group”, carefree energy, which makes their interactions hilarious and very endearing. I really hope you’ll react to his interview with Ravi, where he talks a lot about his childhood and how he sometimes struggles to differentiate between his artistic and private persona. The thing with Taemin, and you will notice this by looking at solo performances too, is how much care he puts into everything he does and interacts with, whether it's dancing, speaking, addressing an audience. He really is a great listener and pays attention to everything, to every detail, and that is reflected in how he masters dance and performance. He is a living legend in kpop at 29 years old, the whole industry looks up to him as a role model.

I would love if you could analyse Taemin’s conversational development. He always tends to say some out of pocket things because he’s awkward but also quite direct but compared to back then he really became more open. Just a few years ago he was the one always talked the least or needed his members to initiate him during concert talks for example. After what happened in 2017 he admitted that he wanted to change and be more open which he actually did! He talks quite a lot now and causes even more havoc everytime he gets the chance to. It probably felt like some type of responsibility since Jonghyun was always the most outspoken one in the group and suddenly that presence was missing and Taemin probably took it to himself to try and fill the gap

Thanks for the reaction! This is one of my favorite videos of SHINee so it was cool to see you react to it. I had the biggest smile whenever you talked about Minho--he really is so charismatic and commanding, but also has such a grounding and lovely presence. He's known to be a sweetheart. Taemin definitely comes across as very playful here and was able to connect well. And you were spot on when you said that Key is sharp and socially intelligent--he knows (and is friends with!) practically the entire idol industry and is very popular on variety TV shows for his fast wit and social sense.

I love how you were able to point out such specific things about the members. Minho's nickname is Flaming Charisma, so you were right about that and Key is genuinely really smart. Onew did seem to be the most affected, watching their old videos, and it might be because he is the Leader and was the only adult at the time of their debut so he had to worry about himself AND the other members too. Taemin is actually a superstar soloist as well. It doesn't really come across because he tends to be cute and clumsy when he isn't performing, but he is very highly regarded in the industry (all of SHINee are, but Taemin especially has inspired a LOT of idols)

Taemin is just in his element. He a kid too. He can be 50 years old and still be a kid lmao

Already watched it on Patreon but decided to watch it here too lol I love Shinee. I'm not sure if you take suggestions but if you do, SHINee's reaction to their MV (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/atJdqqaHsZfYmIk.html) is a great video that really shows their chemistry with each other. It's technically a reaction video but it's one of the first times fans see them all together after the older three returned from the military and its full of banter and you can just see how happy they are (especially Taemin) is to have shinee together.

I have so! much! trouble! with the 'curse of knowledge' when I am teaching a class. I really try to be aware of it and not go off on a tangent. You really explained that so well, lol, without falling into the too much knowledge trap!

You’re really spot on with your reactions. Minho Taemin and Onew are introverted but unlike Onew, Minho and Taemin have their cheeky childish sides: Taemin loves being naughty but we only see it if they’ve someone to bounce off and that’s usually Jonghyun. The extroverts are Key and Jonghyun. They’re the social whiz, Onew is shy and quiet very introspective but with an inner strength

Yayyy more SHINee, these guys are true jewels, their personalities are fantastic, they're all very good persons and they truly love each other, but at the same time they're all so different and complement each other in a different way, they shine with their own light. Even their singing voices have a different color but they can all sing and dance so well. thanks for reacting to shinee again! if you want to know more about taemin, i would totally recommend reacting to exo (and more nct!) because taemin is also in a supergroup with members from those two groups! it’s called SuperM, and i think it would be really cool to see you react to all of them together and see how differently they act when they’re with different members! of course it would probably be a better experience if you were more familiar with all 3 shinee, nct, and exo, so i’m just putting the idea out there for the future :)))

Just stumbled across your channel because of the Shinee reactions and am going to subscribe - feels like I could learn a lot about how to be a more effective and empathetic communicator from your videos. Shinee's interactions with kids are some of the best in kpop that I've seen, especially now that they're older. They feel like the grownups you would actually go to with concerns - whether a child or an adult - especially Key, Minho, and Onew. The mom of the boy paired with Key said that her son's favorite celebrity who he met via the show was Key. And he has met a ton of celebrities so it means that even the short interaction had an impact. This content was made after they came back from military service. Even though they are still chaotic together, I think they all matured and engaged in self-reflection while away. It shows up in their interactions in the group and with others, and in their music too.

SHINee are one of the most genuine groups in kpop. I really want to see you react to Minho and Key in I live Alone, just their bickering...if nothing else you'll get a good laugh!!

you read them pretty well!! hahha they are pretty direct and confident, as you said Minho and Key specially. And you are right about Taemin, he does tend to be sometimes a people pleaser spot on!

SHINee as a whole is pretty good with kids, but Minho is GREAT! My favorite clips are of him interacting with kids, probably because he can be just a big kid himself, LOL.

Eventhough I tell myself to to cry over Jonghyun anymore....I can't seem to keep my tears in when Minho talks about him ....

SHINee was the only Kpop group I ever got really into back in like 2010. I actually preferred to just watch all of their interviews and TV show appearances rather than listening to their music that much because I liked their whole vibe and dynamic. Weird to see how they're still going despite everything and they're kind of still the same but also not at all.

SHINee is impressive on every level. I wish I knew about them when they debuted 14 yrs ago but have been enjoying playing catch-up. The kids regularly on the show are also incredibly charming and kind-hearted so the combination of course is magic. Jessi, who is a talented and popular solo artist/rapper in SK - with a huge personality - talked with some of the same kids about growing up as a Korean-American. Her interaction with them was precious. Worth checking it out if you haven’t already.

You can see sadness in Onew's eyes when the girl asked who Jonghyun was and he then has this far away look and says, it was so long ago. Being new to Shinee the loss of Jonghyun is still fresh for me so seeing those old videos of him is really said. I love that the members and fans still consider Shinee a 5 member group.

Lol! I was laughing at how Max said Minho doesn't feel the need to be heard or doesn't project his voice. As a member of the noisy trio (JjongMinKey) he's definitely up there with the volume. And the way he always steps in to retell a story someone just told always reminded me of a kid who wants a turn at telling mum what just happened.

Fun facts : Minho's nickname is Flaming Charisma taken from the lyrics of The SHINee World song during their debut era,plus because his charismatic and high spirit perosnalities. Besides, the staff also named him as Choi Tenderheart because of his kind and lovely heart.

I'd love you to react to the NCT episode. The one were Yuta and Johnny talked to kids about their home countries. I found it very wholesome 💚

Love this communication aspect of reactions! I don't know if anyone has recommended, but I think Super Junior will be an interesting group to analyze. Everyone in the group has crazy communication skills LOL Their sub unit K.R.Y also had a video with these kids, it's adorable as well.
