SHINee after 2.5 years (3 members Onew, Key and Minho were in the military) came back on fire with DCM the 7th Album. Please check the whole album because there is not a bad song in there. This was my first SHINee comeback as a Shawol and I couldn’t be more proud of them. SHINee is known in the industry as trendsetters, they are always experimenting with new music and concepts. After 13 years they love and well respected by their colleagues.

With this comeback, SHINee (pronounced Shiny -- as in shiny diamonds or shiny stars -- their name has a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine) are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. And "Don't Call Me" is a perfect example of that. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. The industry looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. You just discovered why SHINee still hold one of the top spots after more than 13 years in the industry. If you are impressed now, just wait until you go through their entire discography of songs and MVs. So far, they have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), several repackaged albums, a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 13+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. However, if you want to see where SHINee truly shines, you have to see their live performances. SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet they are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than many members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc. which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew turned 31 last December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one with the hoodie -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch, etc. Key -- the one with the feather headpiece -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment, so Key is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also known as SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. Minho -- the one with the red hair -- is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is a top actor and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. He is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. And, as you have discovered, Taemin -- the one with the white bandanna -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry, and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular solo artists in the industry and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. Although Jonghyun wasn't in the MV -- because he passed away 3 years ago -- in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc., as well as participated in several movie and drama OSTs. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. He was one of the very first Idols to be known for this songwriting and composing skills. As the main vocalist, Jonghyun is the reason why Taemin is the amazing singer and performer that he is today. Jonghyun taught Taemin everything he knows and you can feel Jonghyun's influence everytime Taemin sings, especially when he's performing with SHINee. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most fans (SHINee World or Shawol for short) will tell you we know who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with our eyes closed, with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop". SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography. SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach.

shinee is a contemporary r&b group, they are always switching things up and trying new things. their title tracks always tend to be something that pushes the boundaries but don't sleep on their b-sides. they have some of the best b-sides you will ever experience.

When it comes to SHINee, their live performances are a must-watch!!! Thats the reputation they built for themselves and they never disappoint! If I were to recommend some performances, it would be 'everybody' at tokyo dome, 'excuse me miss' and 'stranger' at shinee world IV, 'evil' at shinee world III, odd eye at inkigayo and 'replay' mv & debut stage! U can then move on to their ballads which are amazing cos they blend their voices so well and their harmonies are beautiful!

SHINee are my Kings! I got into them when I discover kpop in 2012, they were my first Ultimate group :). I spend more time with NCT these days but SHINee was my first and they have a special place in my heart forever. My favorite SHINee MVs are : Replay (debut from 2008 feat 14 year old Taemin lol), Sherlock, View, and Married to the Music!

I simply love Shinee!! Key, the one with the feathered hat, has a new show about living alone. He's so funny and sweet. And yes Lucifer is amazing and it also has a kick A dance practice. In fact this is the dance practice that started the dad of filming them in K-pop.

The thing about Shinee is that they never came out the same. Each albums are different. And they never failed to amuse us. Thank you for reacting to Shinee.

Shinee have no fixed concept. They can go multiple genre with ease. They do have a fixed sound though. You'll know it's shinee whatever song they sing because each member has a distinctive voice that you can recognise very quickly.

Now, I wanted to explain how I think SHINee are now connected to the whole SM Universe. Because Taemin is also a member of SuperM, I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM Entertainment's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connecting SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence, Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling in "Don't Call Me". I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force and EXO's/SuperM's storyline. Although I have not worked out what it all means yet. (In EXO's storyline when we see Red objects or Red light this usually means this is something being controlled by the Red Force.) The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. So, as I said, most of SM's groups have storylines that connect. For example, I see connections between EXO, SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me." And most recently, we saw Baekhyun from EXO/SuperM on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai from EXO/SuperM on train tracks and people on a subway train platform in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and as it transitions to "Mmmh." And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. Which I think is all connected in someway. The train station/subway platform in "Don't Call Me" also is given a very futuristic EXO-like feel with the view of space and the planets in the sky when you see SHINee dancing on the train platform. I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the phone booth submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." Then it looks as though the SHINee members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to the scene in SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV. When the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping," they are each teleported through space which looks very similar to that scene with the stars in "Don't Call Me." So, because the members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from taking over the world, etc., I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. If you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight. I also think maybe the storyline in SHINee's "Atlantis" could be connected to the SM Universe. The whole MV is a reference to the story of Atlantis, which is why you see them selling seafood and why they are underwater, etc. As I interpret the MV, the convenience store is a cover for the fact that it sits on top of a portal to the city of Atlantis. To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis." And I think that move in "Atlantis'" choreography, where Key and Minho make the circle with there hands, is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. Like a superhero who is summoning all their powers. The SHINee members are sort of supposed to have special power as the keepers of the portal to "Atlantis," etc. Which, if I had to guess, also might be something linking SHINee to SM's Universe. That is why I think that even though SHINee are part of the second generation, that SM is now working on bringing them into the storyline. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that NingNing's butterfly in aespa's concept could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's "Mama" MV, and some have even made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in "Ring Ding Dong." Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's recent "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s MV in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing even more of its groups into the storyline, including their older groups.

This is the 7th Full Korean album to be exact, they have over 21 including Korean and Japanese EPs, and I am not counting the singles kk in japanese they have at least 2 that you only found the songs in there like one of my favorite ballads Moon River Waltz and some of the albums are split into 2 or 3 parts like the last comeback in 2018 Story of light 1,2,3 and more the repackage Countless, most of time when SHINee makes a full album, they do a repackage like with DCM and Atlantis, a true fact is that the B side are gems most of the time are better than the song title kk in any song you can notice their powerful vocals, but I believe that in ballads you really feel it and of course in live performances.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. I am so excited to start watching ur Shinee content. I recently got to watch a reaction with all the MVs. So i am halfway caught up i think. But now its relisten time. Plus, I love to hear what u think of each song. Taemin bias here and OT5. Love Atlantis but i don't like this song. It's not my vibe. Taemin looks good as usual though. I liked Key's fashion sense 50% here. He designed their fits. Key is a good dancer. Taemin keeps my attention often but i do notice Key from time to time. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟

I'm really invested in your Taemin and Shinee journey and I can't wait for more reactions from you! If you want to continue chronological then you should do their debut song 'Replay' next. The date on the video says 2011 but that's only when the SM re-uploaded it to their new yt channel. Their actual debut was in 2008 already when Taemin was only 14 years old. It's a whole throwback 😁 You should also be aware that Shinee is actual a 5 member group. Sadly Jonghyun passed away in 2017 due to suicide. I know it's a heavy topic but I thought you should be aware of that. He will always be part of the group tho, we love him and he did well ♥️ Maybe you can do a Shinee guide at some point to get an overview on the group. I can recommend 'A Very Shinee Guide' it's not too long and has almost all the important information in it. If you want to do a more detailed one then 'A very Shinee Intro' has a separate guide for each of the five members and it is a really giid one.
