Tokyo’s busiest area is also the most fun, 300 exits at the world’s busiest station and we’ll walk around it from the South exit to Kabukicho past Yodobashi camera store and the neon lights. #shinjuku #tokyo #kabukicho

This was the first time I saw the homeless shelters under the bridge. I always have an image of Japan being so clean, and rarely see homeless people. I think Japan takes care of its homeless population better than most countries, although I realize it is a complex issue in any country. Thank you John for another walk through town.

Ueno, Shinjuku seem to be the hardest areas for that 😢 it’s always been around but the cities have a way of limiting it to certain areas.

I’m currently here. What’s interesting is that some have decently made makeshift shelters and I’ve even seen them sweeping up outside their areas.

From what I know the reason some japanese shops open at 11 is because 11-2 is considered as a lunch hour. Some consider it as 10-2 p.m too.

Shinjuku station was crazy. I don’t remember the specific exit name but I walked underground for quite a LONG time. I was headed towards the government building. I think it would have been better if I got to street level so that I could have some idea of where I was. 😂

26:00 Lost in Translation is my favourite movie of all time. This is where Bob (Bill Murray) arrived in the taxi as he woke up to the bright neon lights of Kabukicho. I sat in the same place Bob did at the Park Hyatt NY Bar & Grill, and visited other filming locations. Thanks for the livestream. You always have so much great information to share.

Thx John for making our trip alive. We were in Shinjuku 2 weeks ago, but we missed Kabukeicho, as we exited on the shinjuku goen direction to see the cherry blossoms that were not even open yet. It's true that the information center does a good job. There is so much to see in Japan that there will always be something new to discover on each visit.

My last visit to Shinjuku was in 1991! It was difficult to navigate THEN, but w/ a Smartphone, and the Internet, soooo much less stressful. I go in June, so looking forward to it. I encountered homeless persons sleeping in the dead-end section hallways of the station back then. There weren't a lot, but they were there, trying to be out of the way.

So Shinjuku has changed a bit since I was last there in 2015... hmm. Not sure how I feel about that. One of the major things I love about Japan is how things DON'T change much over the decades. Oh well, I guess the major cities are an exception to that rule. -1 for the protest at the end... :(
