i actually walked from harajuku to shinjuku during my 2 week trip in japan, as a heavy walker i am so impressed by how walkable japan is, it felt so serene

Tip: If you are considering to leave your belongings at the coin operate luggage locker, while waiting to check in to your hotel, do not consider Shinjuku station. Identify a less busy Station and chance you will find a vacant locker is higher. I wasted hours in Shinjuku station recently trying to locate one. Happy traveling to Tokyo

U can never relax in Shinjuku Goyeon during Cherry blossom season, no matter day and night. The night event was terribly organized. It’s so dangerous with a large amount of people waiting to go in at night. Btw, it took 45 mins even with tickets purchased in advance.

I am so sorry for your negative experience. I have had only good experiences there. I visited Shinjuku Gyoen during cherry blossom time on two separate visits and found only beauty and tranquility. And on another occasion it was the Chrysanthemum Festival - again I was untroubled by crowds. And I have to say, "dangerous" is a word I would never associate with Japan. I am a lone female traveller, staying always in self-catering apartments not hotels. My first visit was when I was already a pensioner and I look forward to my fifth trip in the autumn when I will be 73 with not a moment's hesitation. And one of the very first places I shall be re-visiting is Shinjuku Gyoen!

How difficult is to take the trains on Shinjuku Station due the size of the station or do you recommend to stay in Asakusa.
