I can explain it if you want. Part 1: Long ago, a sorceror challenged the founder of the Asuka Ninja Clan to a fight. The sorceror lost the battle and he was trapped by the founder in a shrine. Many years later, a young Asuka ninja called Crow opened the shrine, accidentally releasing the sorceror to the world. The sorceror, who introduced himself as Gamuran, made Crow his apprentince. He pretended to be Crow's friend. Unwittingly, Crow told Gamuran the Asuka Ninja Clan's weakness: modern bombs and explosives. Gamuran formed an alliance with the Taraba Ninja Clan, a rival clan that specialized in using bombs to defeat their ninja opponents. Together, they wiped out the Asuka Ninja Clan in a single night. Crow was horrified by this betrayal. He ran to his Master Taiga to save him but it was too late. On his dying breath, Taiga informed him that Gamuran really wanted the ancient Asuka scroll stashed in a temple somewhere. Crow found the scroll, opened it and read it, only for Gamuran to appear behind him. Crow threw the scroll into the fire. This would stop Gamuran from learning the black art of necromancy which he could use to create an army of the dead. Gamuran was displeased. However, he wasn't done yet. He stole Crow's memories and put them inside a shining stone. However, Kinu stabbed him before he finished the spell. The shining stone split into eight pieces. The temple exploded. Crow and the eight shining stones were thrown into a river. Crow wakes up on a river bed, unable to remember who he was or anything about his past. He meets a white cat who takes him to a small hut. And that is how the story starts in the PS2 game. That is Part 1. Don't feel like writing the other parts now. Also it depends on whether you kill Ichijo before the killer whale's eye mission and which lord you favour so you get different cut scenes.
