Well, that's normal GeoGuessr, actually. Yesterday I found the exact city in South Africa in 3 minutes. Just gotta read stuff. The real issue is when there's nothing to read. In those cases, you gotta take wild guesses. I once blindly got Tibet, but very far from the actual location.

Even if you didn't know this was in Japan (if this was a global Geo Guess)... 1st reason you know it was Japan was at 0:00 - it is that weird specific blue type of shade cloth/Fence/stuff that every Japanese farmer puts round their crop fields and trees. Then at 0:04 - there's a close up of it. It's a specific type that you only see in Japan. Has a unique weave to it. Then at 0:15 - you can see the houses designs. Very japan, nowhere else tends to build like this. Lastly The mountains in the back - that (relatively) pointy peak that spends much of it's time in the background is definitely Mt Atago in Kasama, Ibaraki. It has a relatively popular Shrine and a long Hiking trail. I've never been to Japan, but I've heard it's a popular hiking trail for local tourists/holidayers from nearby Tokyo on long weekends/public holidays, where they hike towards Mt Wagakuni in the northeast or vice-versa.

@@flordelphinta All from Memory. I've been wanting to travel to Japan for a holiday, for about 20+ years and haven't been able to go yet... Because life happens. So just the things I heard along my journey of being interested in Japan specifically. I'm an OKAY geoguesser, but only know specifics about, Australia, USA, Japan, China, Britain and few European countries... Every other place I could probably guess the country (EXCEPT AFRICA - HOLY HUNDREDS OF COUNTRIES), but be nowhere near accurate on location.

@@GarlicAvenger That means you're already a peak Geo guesser for the average folk. Top Geo guessers are borderline inhumane, since the amount of effort and experience behind their lightning fast guesses are immaculate. That or they possess the ability to remember everything that they've read or seen, even if it's just once. Being a decent Geo guesser, or okay one as you call yourself, already calls for enormous amounts of general knowledge and understanding in various fields. Would love to be one someday, if I get to roam the world and absorb wild amounts of knowledge like a sponge once I become more free of these mortal shackles called financial burden.

A sign in Japanese is a big clue that you're in... Japan. Now if this was a sign somewhere in the lower part of NA (Mexico), Central America and South America, you'd be like "somewhere in the lower part of America or Spain". Same with the larger countries like China, though in China it would be tougher due to multiple languages used there (Mandarin and Cantonese being the common ones).

Really gives you a sense of how damn big Japan is.. At least when compared on the world map which makes it look so small.. Which as we all know the world map or even a globe makes certain land masses bigger or smaller compared to their true scaled down ratio.
