I miss the docs videos. I used to live almost completely off of dr frunkey, Jt’s knife life, and Eugene Kwon, all who have stopped making videos today. We miss you guys. But I hope all is well.

To be fair, the $250 comparison would be between the G10 F3 and awesome CF F3R. The gorgeous micarta version F3R is $100 less than the CF. So they're pretty darned close. A lot of knives get close to a Shiro, both less and more expensive. The Porsche analogy is perfect though - there's only one rear engine flat 6 that can smoke Italian 12 cylinders or American iron and still use as a daily commuter. You didn't mention the clips though!

I did mention the clips!! 08:53 This is a spectacular knife, but the price is a bit high. Like the 911T, awesome costs money.

The M390 isn't flat on top, just got one from Recon1, still jimping and a different cutout than yours. I like the F3 clip better.

Very nice knives! I like the action on the new knife, but wonder if the milled out liners will collect more lint. I’ve been using can of compressed air on my knives lately, especially those with bearings(!!!!). Thanks for sharing these great looking knives!

~27% more, is it worth it? To me (& you!) yes it is, to some it will be considered a obscene amount of money! For whatever reason it is not considered a plus point with some if you can afford something they can't, you handle the financial side ok, price is obviously a very important factor when buying a knife, we all have different price points we are comfortable with, don't feel guilty! continue with the great reviews.

There is a new Vanax that just came out last year. its just called Vanax now. its even better than the other variants now. but it requires more advanced heat treatment. i have knives on single row bearings that drop shut easy. MRBS doesnt make that difference ultimately. thats more about the complete design of the knife but primarily detent. i mean take for example the single row bearing Grimsmo's.

One question. Did you see a difference in action when you added the new copper dust c.f. scales into the older one. It just seemed like the first time you showcased the knife it pretty much had the same action as the newer model when it still had the stock g10 scales. Maybe I'm wrong. Both are beautiful either way. Nice vid!

Asphyxiate14 the action improved dramatically on the older one when I added the titanium backspacer. The action on the MRBS is improved.

All shiro’s are super smooth. The attention to detail is in a league of its own. In my top 3 of favorite knife makers which they all put up a heck of fight for the #1. How do you compare a shiro to your Koenig as far as fit and finish?

Nice comment. I think they are similar, but Koenig is a MUCH newer maker. The Shiro is more refined right now, but Bill is rapidly evolving his Arius, including internal milling that was just introduced.

Andrew Emerson: I'll just butt in here, I don't have a CF Koenig, just a Ti (used to have a Gen1 as well). But I've handled the CF version which is pretty similar weight aside. It's hard to compare directly when they're not liner knives as that's where fit and finish (or lack of) are really noticeable IMHO. The Gen 1 (Millit built) was noticeably less well finished than the Koenig built Arius. The Arius is excellent, but there's a slight lack of detailing compared to the shiro. Such as the smooth clean hardware. The Arius just has Torx screws and that "D" pivot. So, win goes to Shiro if that's the deciding factor.

Nice vid as always, Doc 👍🏼. Given that the blade weights must be pretty close on both the versions, how does the milling on the F3R affect the balance? The F3 is the liner lock version of the F95, if I am not wrong, and my experience with the F95 is that it’s a fairly heavy blade needing weight at the rear to achieve the balance in hand.

Do you find f3 too thick im not sure what shirogorov to get f95 Haiti or f3 ... can't afford all so which one do you prefer?

Thickness is not really an issue for me, but the F3 is significantly thicker than F95.

I hesitated on the f3 because of the thickness.I prefer thinner knives but the f3 is so comfortable that the thickness is negligible.

not worth the money. for $900 i would want a hand rubbed finish and better looking hardware. the shape may be well thought out, but the execution is lazy.

alfred rodriguez I think you are missing some of the details here. Get one in hand and I think you'll agree the level of fit finish and detail all are present.

no doubt fit and finish are spot on. my point is the execution is lazy. stone wash blade, easy to machine hardware. no challenging productions steps were dont to make this knife truly great. i believe a great knife will have all these boxes check marked.
