If only she would mentioned she didn't want marry anyone, because she truly didn't know Lingye, Shiyi just didn't want to be use to secure a childs marriage alliance. How come after all this time Con. Wen doesn't notice that whenever she mentions money or how much something costs that Lingyi just leaves or is disgusted. It's like she has no EQ or can't read facial cues. She's been with him almost as long as Qin but she's too focused on her maiden family its surprising that she even caught his attention enough to birth Yu. Lingyi knows Shiyi so well that he knows that since she was upset the she probably went for walk in the gazebo. Even with Con. Wen he's concerned about her. And while she's replaying his words she immediately thinks of him. I think she admits to herself how she truly feels and her part in the distance between them.

@@arilu89x Shiyi didn't want to be used by the Luo family after all the effort Madame Luo put in to banish her from the Manor. She was only summoned because Madame Luo wanted to use her to secure Zhun's future. She also didn't want to be married because she didn't want to give up her independence....that's why it took her so long to accept her feelings for Lingyi. She told him that she kept her distance because she didn't want to lose herself. What she didn't realize is that Lingyi was open to change...he wasn't going to force her to give up what she loves because it made her happy....all he wanted to do was to make her happy. Concubine Wen was too obsessed with enriching the lives of the Wen family to even care about Lingyi's needs. She was blinded by money just like her entire family. They would do anything to make money even colluding with the Ou family. If concubine Wen was smart she would've realized that her family was using her....they didn't care about her happiness or what she wanted or needed. They only cared about using the Xu family name to improve their business. Yes, I agree. He really knows her so well....that's why he didn't believe the fabricated lies that Lianfang told on her. He knows her heart...so when Lianfang tried to frame her...he knew immediately that it was a lie. The only one that was fooled by Lianfang was the GM.

To be fair, he wasn't dying to be with her either. Neither of them knew or trusted each other, but I can see why thinking she only treats him well out of duty and guilt would hurt after he actually fell for her.

@@hpr2008 true...I think he was more open to the idea of being with her than she was of being with him....even before Yuanniang suggested that he marry Shiyi he was impressed by her especially after their run in at the pier. Yuanniang's scheme to neutralize Lianfang became an obstacle because he thought Shiyi was her accomplice. Once he figured out that she wasn't involved in what happened with Lianfang it made it easier for him to let his guards down with her.

Shiyi was actually the youngest daughter of the Luo household and didn't have much dealings with the males in her family as Shiyi and her mother were sent to live in the country. She doesn't understand how her expressing her gratitude, has the opposite effect than what she intended on Lingyi. If you haven't been taught what's expected between a man and a woman as all they kept telling Shiyi was her responsibility in taking care of Zuhn, it's understandable. Thank goodness, she realized instinctively she would lose her husband if she didn't get him to understand her true feelings for him. The drama depicts this beautifully, especially with her over time, becoming aware of her growing feelings for Lingyi.
