Spectacular! I think the second one is also known as Worbla. Everyone in the doll community was using it for shoes etc for dolls (See Hextian if youre interested in tiny shoes and stuff lol!).

Can you use a very hot dry iron instead of a hot air gun?

A hot iron will burn it and stick. If you don't have a heat gun use a steamer or a hair drier.
