When I was a cop my state allows anyone to come in sit down and look at my entire personnel file. They do not get access to our home address and phone but thats it. If a citizen misremembers something when talking to the FBI, this can be used to put that person in prison for decades. If the FBI systematically violates civil liberties through illegal searches, then there is an unspecified disciplinary process which is supposed to make it better. The FBI agents who did this should be imprisoned
