Fixing the Service Axle Locker Light on a Jeep JL or JT Rubicon! Z Automotive Z Locker

We have been experiencing the dreaded Service Axle Locker System light on both the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and our Mojito Jeep JL Rubicon. Thanks to the crews at Z Automotive and Americas Most Wanted, there is finally a simple fix for this problem that Jeep refuses to address properly.

Yep! Ordering the part from Z Auto was easy and fast. It was the rear sensor and took all of 5 minutes to install. The local Vegas dealer wanted about 250.00 to diagnose the problem even though it would be under warranty. My car policy is 100.00 deductible. My lockers still work. Thank You for this Video.

Service light came on today. We’re leaving for Moab in a few weeks and didn’t want this thing at the dealer forever. Found this video and ordered the part, then went out to see where the connector is and it had come loose. Popped it back in and the light went off. Have the part coming, though, as it sounds like we’ll eventually need one or both.. thanks!!

Does this allow the system to report locker status (engaged / disengaged front-rear) to the computer's Off Road pages screen?

Put one on the rear and the light went off for about a day, then on again. Went to install another one on the front but can't get it to lock/click properly back on. Any suggestions?

I have a question! This started a couple months ago. Finally was able to bring into a dealership ( I live very remote northern Canada) and they said it was due to a vent hose being broken. Does that sound reasonable? 22 Rubicon JT

Definitely not, this is a well known issue with the axle locker sensor.

Just buy one and start with the rear. If that doesn’t fix it, then move the Z Locker to the front. But most likely it’s the rear.

I am looking forward to more 392 videos. Will you please help with one question… once you installed the Clayton 2.5 lift did you eliminate the rubbing with the 37’s on stock wheels and spacers??? I’m going to run a 37 with factory wheels and spacers but can’t decide on a 2.5 or 3.5 lift. It will be off-road at times and flexed out. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What did happen to the 392?? I just got mine last week and was wondering what all you’ve done to yours since your last video. We’re you able to raise the speed limiter? Did you try a throttle controller?? Have you tased it to try out the 2wd. I would love more 392 content.

We have a lot more 392 content coming very soon! We haven’t raised the speed limiter or tried out 2wd yet with the Tazer. We do have the new Ultimate9 iDrive ready to be installed!

I have the same problem on my JL Rubicon, but the Service Axle Locker lights keeps popping randomly on the screen while driving. When I tried to activate the front and rear locker, it didnt work for the front one, but it did work for the rear locker. So, would it help to place a Z Automotive Z locker sensor on the front axle locker? or do you think it might be a different issue since its a flickering service light?

Mine started as a flickering light but eventually became solid. I would pick one up and try it first on the front to see if it fixes it. I have a feeling it will.

@@shockerracing SO I ordered the Automotive Z locker two days ago and connected it to my front diff locker as shown in your video. The Service Light was gone and the front locker started working again. The next morning, the Axle Locker Service light started flickering as before until now. Did you face the same issue?

@@zautomotive I actually just received my second Z-locker and placed it on the rear locker, its actually working fine. I highly recommend the Z-locker. Very easy and its just plug and play. I just have one note to take into consideration when making more of the Z-locker. The only problem with the Z-locker is that they don't lock (click) properly on one end of the connector but they have a good connection with the female connector on the differential. It just seems like the plastic is a little bit longer than it should, which makes it impossible to click the male and female connectors. I had to use cable ties to hold them together.

Yes, it would only be a problem on the trail when you need your locker.

It’s just called a locker sensor. And I installed the Z Locker to bypass it.

It has worked perfectly for us on multiple Jeeps now. Did you try it in both the front and rear axle?

Don't waste your money on this. It is not a fix! This unit is nothing more then a timer circuit that makes the Jeep thing when you hit disengage that the locker is disengaged and the same thing when you go to lock it diff. If the axle is in fact locked and for some reason it is stuck locked the dash will show the axle disengaged when it truly is not resulting in a dangerous situation that could result in loss of control or even create more damage to your differential. If you on the trail and you hit engage if the axle does not truly engage you won't know because the light on the dash will show engaged when it may not be. There are a number of correct fixes on the JLWrangleForum that can easily be completed in a few steps. Once completed you locking axle will work as Jeep designed it and you can be confident that the status of the axle on the dash truly reflects the status. Don't rely on this expensive band-aid, fix it right you will be happy you did!
