We should know better by now when it comes to these blinds. You never know what the outcome will be. But I've got to say, this one completely shocked me!
We lined up Blanton's Single Barrel, Blanton's Gold, and Rock Hill Farms against each other in a blind taste test. All three are the same juice essentially, just different ages and slightly different proof. You won't believe who wins this battle!

Not a bourbon fan but a friend brought over 10 bottles of hard to find bourbons on July 4th, tried Blanton SB and RHF, thought Blanton is garbage and RFH became my favorite bourbon, I would pay $300 for the RHF but not going to buy Blanton SB for $50

I must say, I have always been underwhelmed by Blanton's. The only bottle I own was a graduation gift, but I've had RHF next to it and wish that we could regularly find them at MSRP because they are both fairly decent at that price. I can't speak on the Gold as I've never had it, but can't imagine it being worth $120+ at MSRP. Thanks for the review and blind on this along with the history! Cheers to you all!

This was a very interesting blind. I have never seen Rock Hill anywhere. Blantons SiB is around but hard to find. It was good to see Wes set this one up. Very generous on the giveaway!! Fingers crossed....

Ahh yes, one of these days maybe I'll see these in the wild again for less than the price of a new lung.....! BTW the single barrel is very tasty.....I think it gets hate because its so popular, hard to find, and expensive.....people try to talk themselves into not wanting it while they secretly look for it every place they go. Cheers!

I easily get blantons gold for about $200-225 on secondary, I prefer it over RHF by a mile. Blantons is the gold standard and the the Blantons gold is incredible stuff.

This was a great blind. I’m surprised you put Blanton’s single barrel in 1st. Great bottle, one of my favorites of all time. Got an opportunity to taste Blanton’s gold once with a neighbor and loved that too! Hopefully we will get a chance to score that on our state lottery!

I’ve tried Blantons. Would buy a bottle to have it for a future infinity bottle, apart from that and buying it as a gift. I try to search out other bottles instead.

Rockhill Farms is the best pour hands down and Blantons SiB has almost no Finish for me Ive yet to open my Gold bottle but i doubt it will beat Rockhill Farms

Blanton’s SiB for me has been hit or miss. The best one I tasted was in the Buffalo Trace distillery tasting tour. Thanks to Whiskey Cake I have been able to taste Blanton’s Gold and RHF. I find them all too Similar. I’ll take whatever is cheapest. BTW Randy, I saw you at Bardstown tasting room in Louisville last week. I think Bardstown products blow all these bottles out of the water.

I wonder why rock hill farms is so rare. Don't get me wrong blantons is tough to come by at msrp in michigan but I've NEVER in my life seen a RHF unless it was at a museum for $450. RHF is absolutely one of my unicorns

RHF is 10 times better than Blantons. Both are pretty available in TN. It’s harder to find because they don’t make a lot of it.

I was really hoping to hear more about where Age International fits in and how BT doesn’t own the mashbill, just the dist rights which is why there is no Mash 2 BTAC. I know I’ve had trouble finding the information but really want to know more about the credit Elmer gets vs Age trying to find a bourbon for the Japanese palate.

I don't think Rock Hill Farms is bottled in bond anymore. also it would be great to see all the mashbill 2 head to head.

It doesn't say it on the label, but it is a single barrel so it has to be a BiB. The only thing that could knock it out of that category would be multiple distilling seasons, but you can't have that with a SiB.

@@BourbonRealTalk single barrels don't qualify it for BiB necessarily also the bottle is missing the dsp like E.H. Taylor BiB.

@@YoJimBo851610 I am not suggesting SiB means BiB. I am aware of all the requirements of BiB. I am simply explaining that we know enough about RHF to know it qualifies on all accounts. The only possible problem would be barrels from multiple distilling seasons, and that can not happen on a SiB.

I dont have the luxury of getting free or bottles given to me cause i have youtube channel or have a huge following may be sending you good bottles . So i need to buy online sometimes to get a good bottle and if i dont I wont be able to taste a russells rickhouse bottle .

@@WhiteyKaine I understand. The issue is the thing you are asking about is actually illegal, so you could imagine why we would not discuss it publicly. There are many whiskey facebook groups, and they are filled with people who have access to the bourbon secondary market. If you want to get invited in, I suggest you join a group, make friends, and ask in private.

@@WhiteyKaine Online stores may or may not be violating the law. Many online stores operate outside the US and violate US law when they ship into the US. Many other online stores operate legally inside the US and are licensed in their state, but violate your home states shipping laws when they ship to you. In either case it isn't something you should be worried about. What I was referring to was the bourbon secondary market which is when an individual without a license sells spirits to another individual. These transactions are generally facilitated in private groups on Facebook.
