Estate sales are my best for finding bargains. Just because the deceased person has an interesting and sometimes an expensive hobby, that does mean the family holds the same interest or knows what most of the items are, ‘Someone is forced to move and sell the leftovers without any care or value. Take for example; After looking at this goddy looking ring at an estate sale, that I paid nothing for, the ring turned out to be worth thousands of Canadian dollars. Mixed in with the colorful junk jewelry. 'Knowledge is power' and, I thank you again for your video’s.

There is another astonishing result achieved in 2010 for a blue Kerman vase carpet. The rug initially sold in a local auction in Augsburg and picked up by a dealer for about Euro 1000 (accurate price was not reported). It was posted again at Christie's with an estimate of $303,000 to $456,000 ....but fetched $9.4 million.

I actually find some of my best items at antiques fairs. It's amazing how so many dealers have no idea what they are selling. Making a living out of selling antiques is all about doing your homework. X

I recently found 2 children illustration paintings at a church sale, for $20. I Sold the Pair for $1500.

Sometimes I find items out of pure luck. One day, at the Flea, I saw a pair of cute Chinese frog candle holders. My GF loves frogs, so I bought the pair for $10. As I was wrapping them up, at the dealers table, I hit something under the table with my foot. When I looked, it was 2 paintings, from an artist I'm very familiar with. I asked how much, and bought them for $2! I was so excited, that I left with the paintings, and forgot the frog holders for 30 mins. Luckily the holders were still there, when I went back. Their value was probably around $20.. The 2 paintings, I Sold for $2000 on Ebay.

Great video 😊......yes there are some bargains to me had 😊..... I go early to bootys....but never dive in to cars😂......utter mayhem sometimes!... got my own methods and had some lovely finds this year 😊....18ct vintage peacock/sapphire brooch, 18ct rope twist chain.....9ct diamond ring....are my best finds so far.....paid £13 for all 😊....plus loads of sterling silver.....so yes worth the effort at bootys 😊

I found a mahagony coffee table in nautical early-mid 20th century design at a local carbooth sales and picked it up for Euro 10, because it was in good condition and carried a brass label with an intrigueing inscription (Great Eastern Liverpool 1811). Obviously this date of 1811 for the ship was far off. It turned out to be a 1930s Italian design series that occassionally trades between Euro 500 and Euro 1500.

Two of my best ever finds came out of the old Gloucester car boot sale when it was on that hard ground: the first was a job lot of Paul McCartney signed Beatles postcards, albums, leaflets etc that were purported to have come out of a private estate and from a deceased pop music collector. Well, I sold the signed album alone for just shy of £500 and I still have all of the other items up my loft. I sent images of them to the Beatles museum down in London and they came back to me saying that they couldn't give me 100 percent proof they were genuine because they weren't accompanied with a COA. I therefore decided not to advertise them for sale. One of the postcards has his and Linda McCartney's autograph on it with an image of them both. I have one signed of the Abbey Road zebra crossing with the Beatles walking on it. The other best finds have been Leica camera lenses bought for tens of pounds and sold for hundreds each and cameras bought for £1 and sold for £250. I know you don't specialise in camera equipment like I do, but there's a lot of value in some of those lenses. I bought a couple of antique lenses again from Gloucester car boot for £40 and sold for in excess of £600.

A C H Brannam of Barnstaple Pottery Figure of a stylised duck in a bonnet. Fully signed and dated 1902 and chipped in four places. Plucked from the middle of a table of dross amongst a sea of dealers for £2. Sold two days later for £800. Best find of 2024 so far
