I saw the sundae bowls next to the Whitefriars tumblers. I have 11 of them with the fruit bowl. I sent away for them not long after I got married and one was broken on the way. They are now 50+ years old! Vintage for sure,just like me. Keep going you are doing a grand job.

Congrats. I'm a writer and know what a huge undertaking this is. It also comes at the perfect time. I'm just starting to plan my new career (too much writing I don't enjoy). I will buy the book. Quick question, if you will indulge me. I have been out of the UK since the pandemic and I know you had to shut your shop. Is the world of antiques shops and centres pre-pandemic done for then? Is everything or too much stuff online to plan for a traditional retail presence? Thanks!

Hi. thank you very much for your comment. i know many people who are still running very successful shops. my friend who commented above here kieran is in the process of opening a new unit. so there is still money to be made using brick and mortar shops. for me for now i am focusing on a different direction but i havent given up on the idea of a new location in the future.

@@AntiquesArena as a marketing guy I know it's very hard to get traffic to your website hence your successful content push. I'm thinking eBay, car boots and maybe a unit in a centre are the best places to start. But no doubt your book will clear all that up. If you need help with written content like blogs let me know. I'm sure we can work something out to keep costs down and get good ROI

i can make modern renditions of any of these in any color you can possibly imagine but theyd be non leaded glass. love the old time drinkware. such a technical treat to make a batch and practice getting good at them. in a factory system environment no one person is doing them start to finish. thats the difference between a trained master and an assembly line worker. one does it all, the other is a step in the process. in the factory the blowpipe goes from person to person each doing the same step ad nauseum til they hate life lol. i did not last long in a glass factory, but i will make drinkware if people want in an artisanal manner. ill do whatever people wanna pay for lol

Very insightful. Wondering. Do sovereigns increase in value at the same rate as the Britannia's (proportionate to the level of gold in them)? I ask given the variance in collectability of some designs being more popular than others, and given that the gold content is lower in the sovereign.

I think Walter you put a really very good argument across, i think its often with the bigger car boots can take number plates and ID on entry , who would do one with the risk of been known for handling stolen goods? 😂. Honestly I'm in construction as a surveyor and antiques as that was my first pasion and i still do flea markets and C Bs half the builders I know are doing insurance scams on them selves 😂 another thought i was a member of SALVO this is a legitimate group of dealers who uphold the Salvo Code. It's a really good way of working with the police rather than starting some outright ban . Is this something you are aware of ? Ps I hated the way he referred to you not knowing about london market, I mean we're not born in a hedge! it seems that London is where the issue is then and the police need to target this🤔🤔! If there are thrives in my regular car boots then it would soon get out as we know who those types are , we see the regulars and we know the shifty ones are too !

Cheep at £110 Only problem is, it’s so clean and without blemish, it looks like a reproduction , do you know if there are many reproductions on the market? And dealers are trying to flog them off as 18th-century on eBay , would appreciate your thoughts on this John sorry, also it has a snapped off pontal not smooth, but neat, rather than rough

I frequently go outside my "comfort zone" and buy other items. I recently picked up some 1970s women's fashions, even though I'm not a clothes reseller. If the price is right, and I think I can make money, I'll buy it, no matter what it is. After all, we are primarily buying stuff to resell, to make a living. This isn't stuff for our own collection. No point in leaving merchandise behind, that might put food on the table mate.

@@AntiquesArena I've just contacted Murano themselves. They don't do repairs. I have made a complaint to the charity too. I'm gonna try to repair it even though it'll be in two pieces. @peterhill28818 күн бұрын
@@AntiquesArena im from Wolverhampton and i will admit i have seen some clearly stolen tools at the boot but like you have said on this video a blanket ban will not help all it does is effect the honest seller give carboots a bad name and move the problem on people will still steal tools and just sell them elsewhere like online or in person house to house what they are asking for is nonsense

@@peterhill2881 100 percent mate. But the police have proven this weekend how easy it is to pick them up at a boot sale so why even ban anyone let the police just do their job

Im sure you can get done for handling stolen goods so for the ones that are found to have stolen tools surely the police could have done them but they are more bothered about fining people for going 35 in a 30 thats the big problem here
@AntiquesArena8 күн бұрын
me outlining the police and working with trades united to clean up boot sales could help save them and prevent blanket bans. or that's the hope

There not saying everyone is a thief at the bootsale but they want a blanket ban on tools being sold there make it make sense
@AntiquesArena8 күн бұрын
blanket bans arnt the way mate, this is a police failure. honest sellers and dealers shouldn't have to be a sacrifice because of the few. anyway from my pod cast on my channel the police got off their ass yesterday and went and arrested 7 people and took all the stolen tools from the boot sale. so clearly that's all that was needed. the police to actually care

If uou dont sell on ebay,why do you use ebay to price your items ?
@AntiquesArena8 күн бұрын
I use eBay as a gauge for what people are paying for items. And part the reason I do my films is to give other sellers inspiration and they do sell on eBay. So now they know what the eBay prices are if they see the items out in the wild.
