Its the same in India , girls family loses a member but the dowry is given to the grooms' family. Correction, socialism and capitalism are different, in capitalism the state owns the businesses and systems. In socialism the people own the system or business. Scandinavia is a mix between socialism and capitalism, and when more capitalism was introduced in Sweden back in the early 2000's a lot of people were against it because they were worried about not having enough transparency and corruption becoming a problem.
