11:25 Those kids sleeping on the ground are just resting, after helping their parents (usually mother) setup their displays and stalls for the open air market. They aren't homeless or on drugs. They can be there as early as 3:30 am in the morning to get the best spots. Most don't live in the city and will have to travel there from other areas.

I loved your POV of Uganda. I am Ugandan and reside here as well. I must say I'm sorry that the policemen gave you a bit of trouble. I'm happy they took it easy and gave you back your camera. Next time avoid filming in places that are heavily guarded by the police. I'm glad you were patient with the person you had to meet and set your boundaries with him. Unfortunately African time is a thing here and people can really disappoint. All in all, loved this. You got a new subscriber and if you're ever around next time, we could meet and collab. I seem to be the first Ugandan here, so I'll leave some comments when done watching! Found your Kigali tour when planning to visit there and it was helpful. Looking forward to seeing you do a similar guide of Uganda's nightlife, it's much more vibrant than Kigali's. Overall, Welcome to Uganda, and I hope you have a nice stay here! EDIT - Now that I'm done watching, I've got some comments: - For Hotels, the heart of downtown is not the safest in Kampala. The one you're at is really nice though, that was a great find! Much better and safer hotels can be booked close to downtown though (upper Nakasero, Kololo, Ntinda, Bugolobi, Muyenga, etc.). - you're right about customer service, It's much better here! - The policeman stopped you because you were infront of the bank of Uganda. Photography infront of the bank is not allowed, even though signage is not there. Frustrating, I know! - Sorry about the time-keeping, its a horrible culture that's sadly common here. If you were let down by that person, I've got a youtuber friend called Raymond (www.youtube.com/@raymondkahuma ) that has great equipment. He might be available to help you out. - Not sure how long you are around for, But I would suggest trying a rolex, and checking out the night life. Bars and clubs are busy on every night of the week, and the people are friendly. I would suggest checking out the bars in Kisementi, and the clubs in Industrial area.

9:14 That's the Central bank's main entrance, - it's also where the national bullion depository and treasury vault is located. It's a bit like taking photo's of the Federal Reserve, HQ in Washington, D.C. + Fort Knox. There have been past attempts by Al-Shabab to attack it. Hence the soldier questioning you, but they probably figured you weren't a threat.

For those planning to come to kampala, be ware if yo goibg yo downtown. Lots of pick pockets and phone snatches. Dont answer phones in crowded areas, step aside and have the wall behind you then call. Dont use your phone whilst seating next to a window in a taxi. It will be snatched and for women, wear your bag securely. Beyond that, all is good. DT has its own charm but only for sharp people. If you are slow it will be hell. Willie, do not let a basic security guard in Uganda bully you again. The law allows you to film. You were not taking pics of anything and that security guard who is like door or gate supervisor has no powers to take your camera. He used it as an excuse to try and get a bribe from you or take it and sale it. Know your rights

@@WillieFungo Yes, Indeed. I just made a comment about this, although he is right in other contexts. I would not expect these particular ones to risk taking or asking for "A cup of Tea" or "soda" from a stranger since it would be a huge national security violation, that would lead to court martial - and just jail time if they are lucky. It has been more than 20 years, and I feel home sick watching your awesome videos from Norway. Nevertheless, 13:10 this isn't really true, while getting the precise time might be an issue due to irregular, unscheduled public transportation times and bad traffic congestion. I can assure you that people *ALWAYS* kept precise time for things they deemed important - exams, doctors appointments, interviews, business meetings, church, going to class etc, in fact they got there 15-30 minutes prior. So such behaviour is disrespectful, you will find that in the rural villages people tend to be more punctual. If someone isn't apologetic in this context, find someone else to deal with. Pro-tip: Be very direct in your communication - whether something is indeed free or "free", and tell them politely that you like punctual, honest and straightforward people prior to any engagement. Question: Were you paying this guy or was he doing you "a favour" - while subtly expecting to get paid? 04:30 Very likely he didn't even have the drone when he promised it to you, and was trying to borrow it from someone else to make a quick buck. I would not recommend dealing with him.
