Squatting is illegal. Read the laws which varies by states. We are suffering this because dem/left, woke judges refuse to enforce the laws. If you don't like change your vote to someone who will.

Ok, so I was already pissed about the border issue. This little ucker really sealed the deal!!!!

I had squatters move into my house when I went across state to help my elderly mom for 3 months. It took me almost 6 mts to get them out and they destroyed my place. they even ripped my wiring out of my walls to sell. Laws need to be changed. Never will I leave a place vacant that I own. It was a horror story.

Here in South Carolina where I live if you break in anyone's house you can go to jail immediately because we have something called The Castle law we also have private property rights enforced

This will catch on because "squatter rights " law comes from back in the 1800's when someone would build a cabin but then abandoned it to go west!! As a Realtor, I tell everyone who plans to rent a house “by owner” to never send deposit or rent money without meeting the owner in person and asking to see proof of ownership. This can be as simple as pulling up the public tax roll record and taking it with you to the meeting, then requesting to see the owner’s ID, or request to see a copy of the deed and the owner’s ID. A lot of squatting happens through scams by people offering up a house for lease that they do not own. The new tenant and the real owner are both victims. The law needs to be written placing the burden of verifying proof of ownership on the potential tenant. There really is no other way to protect both tenant and legal owner. Now that greedy lawyers have made it harder for buyers and tenants to have independent Realtor representation, buyers need to be all the more careful and investigate carefully what you’re leasing or buying. Fortunately, some states like Florida have changed their law and squatters no longer have rights and are immediately removed by law enforcement.
