Can someone explai to me whats the relationship between the translator and ohtani, coz i just read some comment that the translator is also friend of ohtani
@CumBrianFries6 жыл бұрын
He's obviously a friend of Ohtani or at the very least an acquaintance because there are plenty of other Japanese interpreters way more qualified than this dude. He could barely speak English let alone interpret professionally!
@user-ve8fs1jd9f6 жыл бұрын
when ohtani used to play in japan his translater also worked for his team as a translater they have known each other since then when ohtani decided to play in major league he asked the translater to go with him and the translater is also an American hi lives in los angel I guess that why ohtani choosed angels

@@user-ve8fs1jd9f Ippei became a serious baseball fan when Hideo Nomo joined the LA Dodgers in 1995, by about 2012 when the Nippon Ham Fighters hired him to translate for ex-pat Americans playing for the 'Fighters, he was very knowledgeable about the finer points of baseball. He's very, very, very knowledgeable today, as well as with respect to he intricacies of training, fitness, rest, etc.

Please hire an interviewer that speaks Japanese/English, I suppose Spanish too
@@no_reason2755 Allow me (2 years later😂) A. “Shohei should be looking at the interviewer and not the translator.” B. “Who the hell are you to say that?” C. “You say who the hell you are (to B) but I want to say who the hell he is for not looking at the interviewer. Doesn’t matter he’s speaking Japanese. He’s getting an interview from this guy so he should be face-to-face.” As a Japanese, I am with A. It’s about being respectful and that’s what our culture is all about and based on. I don’t agree with B at all. His delivery is nothing but rude anyway. 😂

my guess would be that since ippei is familiar with the area and a close friend of Ohtani, it makes for a much easier transition to living in the US
@Mwoods22726 жыл бұрын
Shohei was only going to play on the West coast. He wants to bat when he doesn't pitch so AL teams. That left Angel's and Mariner's. LA has a large Japanese/American and expat community. Angel's have a better chance at making the playoffs.
@BurntRAM6 жыл бұрын
by that logic why didnt he sign with the rangers? they play in the al west. darvish had a good run in texas... texas also offered otani the most money.
